Re: 2011 Challenger to get 6.4L and other goodies
Go Challenger! With the MDS 6.4, I might get the SRT8 instead of the planned R/T. Now the colors: Detonator Yellow, Plum Crazy, Lime Green or Mango? And to think they are going to change the steering wheel (didn't care for the old one), looks like those after drives in my STS are over!

Re: 2011 Challenger to get 6.4L and other goodies
This is my favorite of the "pony" cars!
I just love seeing these. A colleague has one and it's just an overall nice car! Right, they need 500 hp out of this if they want to continue selling the SRT at 40K. The current car should be priced in the mid to low 30's, while still making a good profit. The '08 models were priced right for their debut, but they are in a different market today and the competition is thick...getting thicker.

Re: 2011 Challenger to get 6.4L and other goodies
My friend had one last year, our senior year of high school. His parents bought it for him as an early graduation present. He had fun harassing the school administration, bus drivers, and the police who would sit near our school in the evenings.
And parents... faculty... |

Re: 2011 Challenger to get 6.4L and other goodies
It is made in Canada with a Mexican motor by an Italian boss and it weighs way too much, but YES! It DOES look good and has a real back seat. Anyone have any details on the 6.4? I still doubt it will be competitive with the big Mustang or Z28. Have you noticed how much they charge extra to go from a 5 speed auto to a 6 speed manual? OUCH!

Re: 2011 Challenger to get 6.4L and other goodies
good info and what a change since it was previously thought that the 6.4 was only going to be used in trucks. I'll keep an eye out for these things since a source has informed me that the 2011 challengers will have moderate camo on them when they begin testing

Re: 2011 Challenger to get 6.4L and other goodies
I don't understand about that B-pillar if the Mercedes CLK can be pillar less why can't the Challenger? I also hope that the snouts prove more useful and my qualms will be gone (we all know it can go on a bit of a diet, but it is supposed to be big).

Re: 2011 Challenger to get 6.4L and other goodies
The Challenger should be marketed as a sports luxury pony car. It's more than fast enough in the R/T, and has a great ride. One of the issues I have with some in this forum is the belief that one product/taste suits everyone; if that were true one couldn't leave a wife, or partner for a moment!
Right now if one wants get out kill speed, come up with $40K get the SRT8, it closes in on the Camaro SS; but in America that will get you a jail vacation,a big fine, and B-class Insurance Coverage. Therefore, be happy to drive on down to the Dairy Queen and show off your engine (with the hood open). ![]()

Re: 2011 Challenger to get 6.4L and other goodies
Thanks for the friendly reply!
Sometimes when posting to this forum I rely on remembered information, and because I am not paid or professionally engaged, I do not have the documents right at hand to quote. You apparently did not either, as you did not give the 0-60 times. However, I did manage to verify the 0-60 times from Motor Trend and they are as follows:0-60 0-100 Camaro SS 4.6 .5 Faster 10.5 3.3 Faster Challenger 5.1 13.8 The 2010 Camaro is faster, so the 6.4L is needed. ![]()
