2009 Charger
![]() New tails, better interiors, R/T gets 370 HP/398 TQ VCT Hemi. Dude with a 2009 Challenger R/T (S2) has been getting 30MPG on the highway with the new VCT engine, so dont be quick to write it off as a fuel hog just yet. Last edited by A Clue : 07-07-2008 at 12:26 PM. |

Re: 2009 Charger
I like the new lights. All they need to do is put a better transmission in the V6 non-AWD cars, and they'd be darn-near perfect.

Re: 2009 Charger
I don't see any difference in the taillights, except that maybe the backup lights are a bit bigger. It's kind of hard to tell due to the blurry picture.

That's all I can see. No more red stripe through them.

Re: 2009 Charger
I agree its a bit premature to talk about mileage when no EPA rating exists for the 09. as for the pic other than a slight taillight revision I don't see anything thats different. And I'm just curious but was this taken over at Chrysler Proving grounds?

Re: 2009 Charger
well 30mpg on HWy is nice - of course depends on the driver's definition of"HWY" - as some of you know when I tested the Edge, I averaged 33mpg in :relaxed hwy driving" - i.e. perfect conditions: 55-60 relaxed, steady. That car is rated at 24mpg.
Now there is nothing to sneeze at if a 370hp V8 gets rated at 24mpg - that is quite impressive. However in the current market - I am affraid anything below 25mpg is just unattractive to your usual buyer. Igor |

Re: 2009 Charger
Damn. Between this updated Charger, the Challenger and the Magnum (sure, discontinued I know) as well as the updated 5.7, I could be pretty easily convinced to drive a Dodge. Badass looking rides indeed.

Re: 2009 Charger
The thing that kept me away from an 06 was the cheap looking interior. Round, exposed speaker grills in the doors that reminded me of the add on 8 track in my old Ford with those el-cheapo speakers in the doors.

Re: 2009 Charger
I hope so too I'm not expecting a radical redesign but I hope they do some form of a refresh. I did see a 09 yesterday. i couldn't get a good view of the front but it looked the same to me as the current 08 charger

Re: 2009 Charger
I had a better view of a Grey 09 today at CTC. This one eluded my lens as well but from my observation the exterior shape will stay roughly the same as before except for the removal of the dorky looking red stripe on the reverse lamps. Expect the majority of the changes to be under the hood and in the interior.

Re: 2009 Charger
The Charger received an interior refresh for the 2008 model year. 2009 interior "upgrades" are only on the SE base model (chrome door spears, chrome center console cupholder rings and satin silver instrument panel bezel).
The R/T gets the new Hemi (with new 2.65 axle ratio). AWD models get the new Active Transfer Case (with new 3.06 axle ratio). Radio mast antenna is being deleted, replaced by rear window antenna. Other than a some package adjustments, that's about the extent of changes for the 2009 Charger models. The number of build combinations for 2008 model Chargers was 2,750; for 2009 it will be down to 225. |
