Your Ideal Jaguar Lineup!
Post your ideal Jaguar lineup here!
My Ideal Jaguar Lineup: XC $34,000-$48,000 The XC replaces the aging and underappreciated X-type, keeping a similar size but taking on the new Jaguar styling inside and out. Boasting a tightly sprung sport suspension, this car is offered in three engines: a base 250 HP 3.5L V6, and an upgraded 300 HP DI 3.5L V6. This vehicle has standard AWD. The XCR boasting a naturally aspirated DI 5.0 V8 pumping out 420 HP along side some minor visual upgrades inside and out in addition to other performance upgrades - 15" Brembo's, tighter suspension, gripper and wider tires, sport seats. XF $46,000-$62,000 New model as-is with the following engine options: A standard 320 HP 4.2L V8; opt for the upgraded engine gets you the naturally aspirated DI 5.0 V8 pumping out 420 HP. The XFR offers all the performance upgrades you'd expect, including a 520 HP DI turbo 5.0L V8. XJ $67,000-$81,000 A new model slightly larger in all areas except wheel base, which grows even more so. The standard model is offered in only one engine: the smooth but powerful naturally aspirated DI 5.0 V8 pumping out 420 HP. Smoothness is engrained in this vehicles - including smooth moves. Standard is the continuously varying suspension with two modes: Comfort and Sport. This allows the Jag to ride supremely, while also allowing to offer moves that would shock the Germans. The XJR offers a turbocharged version of the DI 5.0L, bumped up to 5.5L and good for 580 HP. That's in addition to all the other performance upgrades. XK $78,000-$92,000 Current mostly as-is. Engine choices have been changed up. Standard engine is the naturally aspirated DI 5.0 V8 good for 420 HP, while upgradable to a 520 HP turbocharged 5.0L V8. The XKR offers - among all the other performance goodie upgrades - a turbocharged version of the DI 5.0L, bumped up to 5.5L and good for 580 HP.

Re: Your Ideal Jaguar Lineup!
Jaguar should have four model lines:
S-Type: No less expensive than it currently is XJ Sedan: Very well positioned currently XK Coupe/Convertible: Aiming at the Mercedes SL/CL, BMW 6-Series Daimler: Based on the XJ but positioned more toward the Bentley sedan As much as I like the X-Type as a car, I don't want Jaguar as an "attainable" brand; it should remain at "aspirational." |

Re: Your Ideal Jaguar Lineup!
Code:
Jaguar lineup XJ series wlb ovl XJ-S shortened wheelbase saloon 115 193 $45-65k XJ standard 119 200 $60-80k XJ-L long wheelbase 123 207 $75-99k Similar to what I've read they're doing - basing a new S on the XJ platform. All would feature extensive use of aluminium. Rwd v6 and v8, gas & diesel, plus Awd hybrid versions for the US. Styling, at first, is identical with shared fenders, frt&rear windscreens, dashpanels. Doors are specific to model. Also, hoods and trunks (bonnets and boots) extend further as size increases (v12 for XJ-L?). Unified styling is in attempt to get one superlative design exactly right. Possibly, divergent styling at refresh. XK series XK2 2 seat sportscar - coupe, targa,'vert 102 179 $35-65k XK4 4 seat sportLux - coupe,c.cabrio 110 187 $55-75k The sportscars are an evolution of the E-type not the XJS, XJR, nor ALC. The XK2 includes v6 & v8 and a 'basic' version of both for 'fun' and pricepoint as well as higher priced luxury editions. Only the basic v6 coupe is $35k. XK4 is luxury sport only - v6 & v8 europe, v8 only US. Room for 4 adults, not "2+2". JL series Estate & SuperEstate - 5door 112 188 $35-40,43-48k Estate = Rwd-Awd, v6, gas & diesel & hybrid. High design & quality over luxury (no wood? half-leather only? ac not climate?). One trim, relatively high featured, few options. SuperEstate = Awd v8 and supercharged v8. Adds the luxury as standard, few options. The idea is sort of a 2-tier Acura-TL-like wagon. The base has a designer-workout/best-quality-tool feel to it, practical quality "you don't have to be careful with". The Super is the handyman in evening-wear. The following year the steroid version is released. Higher (adj?) ride height, taller roof, lengthened to offer 3rd row seating; but same styling, not truck/suv-like. Safari & SuperSafari - tall 5door 7pass 117 195 $42-50,52-65k If this approach succeeds, the line is then expanded with: Saloon & SuperSaloon - 4door 112 188 $33-38,40-46k By introducing the Estates and Safaris first, the idea of a practical Jaguar is hopefully established as not being out of character. Design and build-&-materials-quality is key. Then an 'affordable' sedan/saloon will seem natural and not forced. The outcome would be a 3 part lineup: the 'big guns' aluminium sedans & sportscars; the Supers, and the base- trim JL models.

Re: Your Ideal Jaguar Lineup!
easiest question in the world....
S-Type mk.2 - sharpen and modernize the classic theme, from V6TT diesel right up to supercharged version of the V8 Aston engine / next generation blown 4.2 V8. hell, use the X-type development to build an S-type looking AWD crossover and AWD estate...but drop the X-type styling. XJ - as is, for the moment. Needs a bit of a refresh in 2 years though, as they were too conservative imho. F-TYPE! for gods sake jaguar, a lightweight (2700lb) roadster with a choice of forced-induction Duratecs that looks just as good as your teasing concepts. Priced right at the Boster & Boxter S. XK - clean up the ALC from Detroit, drop the side vents and give it more power and grace... no problem. |

They were sweet looking cars. ![]() But I guess having Aston already in the lineup, it may be a better place for a supercar.

Re: Your Ideal Jaguar Lineup!
I was fortunate to see an XJ220 cruising through London. I wasn't too sure what it was at first. I had to stand there and think for a moment.
