Escape gets black chrome option.
I was looking at the new 2009 site and noticed that the lower bumper now can come with black chrome. http://www.fordvehicles.com/suvs/escape/

Re: Escape gets black chrome option.
Looks good, but the Mariner still looks like its a class above the Escape.

Re: Escape gets black chrome option.
Are you sure it's black chrome and not just an optical illusion caused by the lighting? I can't find any mention of a black chrome option at the Escape website or Ford Media (not that I'd want to; I never liked the chrome on the bumper).

Re: Escape gets black chrome option.
I don't doubt that there are occasional errors or omissions in information at Ford's websites. For example, since 2005 the minisite for the Mustang has listed the GT's engine as a 4.6L OHV V8 in its specifications section. In spite of things like that, I would still want to see an option in writing rather than just determining its presence on the basis of a picture.

Re: Escape gets black chrome option.
Went through the 09 build and price, no black chrome, sorry.

Re: Escape gets black chrome option.
It would be more misleading than being true. While the placement of the valves is similar in either an OHC or an OHV engine, OHC engines are referred to as such specifically because of the presence of one or more chain-driven cams over each cylinder bank to operate the valves. The 4.6L V8 and every other one of Ford's Modular engines utilizes this setup. Traditional OHV engines, like the Small Block Chevy, don't have these cams. Should they be alternatively referred to as NOHC (No Overhead Cam) engines? It wouldn't be untrue to say.
The reason why it's a typo on Ford's website is because it isn't consistent. The 4.0L V6 is listed as a SOHC engine right next to the 4.6L V8. Even though there are more valves and other minor differences in the V8 relative to the V6, they are both still OHC. Furthermore, when you click on the V8 itself (it's a link) for more information, it is described as a 4.6L SOHC V8.
