Do the tail lights lift up with the gate? Is that legal here? I've never seen it before. It would mean you can't with the gate up at all.

They do... But once it's open, there appears to be a secondary set of reverse/brake lights. So i suppose, if necessary, you could drive with the tailgate open. Not sure if it's legal though.

I doubt it. When you open the rear gate on a Cadillac Escalade, the CHMBL is no longer visible.

Hmm... guess maybe I'm wrong. I assumed that was a non-negotiable thing.

Re: CTS Wagon Vs. TSX Wagon

So many great station wagons that could, but wont, make it stateside . . .

. . . but the reality is that America gave up on this quintessential American vehicle in favor of the SUV. Fairly or not (and I am in the NOT camp, actually one of my vehicles is a station wagon) the station wagon has a stigma of boredom, not unlike that of the minivan . . . which totally deserves it.

Re: CTS Wagon Vs. TSX Wagon

Aren't wagons supposed to be utilty vehicles? ALL modern wagons fail at this purpose.

There has not been a wagon built to date that can match or even come close to the utility of this. The cargo capacity, 8 seats, 7000lb towing capacity... If we still had these we wouldn't need Traverses.

I will cling to my b-body wagon until my death or a find a clean 94-96 Roadmaster Estate, which ever comes first. None of these modern wagons are anything like what the American wagon used to represent, which was basically what the SUV represents: utility.

Those were great for their time, but if we still had them, Buick would be in the trash heap with Pontiac and Saturn.
