The twin-turbo version of the Ford 3.5 would use direct injection.

A direct injection turbo can be tuned for good gas mileage by using a late closing intake valve to spool up the turbo at low RPMs. That delivers better low end torque, which means you can keep the engine in a higher gear and reduce RPM for less gas use.

Or at least, that's the theory. The turbo Sky Redline and Solstice GXP get really good mileage. So does the BMW twin turbo 335.

Re: 350 hp V-6 Mustang???

wasn't a talk also of the return of the inline-4 in the Mustang? Like a I4 turbo who could annonce a modern incarnation of the Mustang SVO.

Re: 350 hp V-6 Mustang???

Stéphane, I saw some posts recently saying that the i4 EcoBeasts () won't be out for more than a year after the MKS's v6EB...
...'course that doesn't mean they won't eventually appear in a Mustang-SVO

edit
here's one link(BON) saying 2010cy, pretty sure I've seen other sources with similar timeframes
