I was just looking throught the Fleet distribution news bulletin and it lists Mustangs as last day to order (for fleet) as 12/8/09. It lists order bank open on 2011's on 1/18/10 and job 1 for 2011 as 3/15/10. I didn't realize the 11's would be this early.
Still not much showing in the order computer. Only thing listed so far is Shelby Convertible. Still shows 5.4L SC 4V V8 so same engine (but could get the rumored alluminum block). They do show a SVT Performance package (option 67F). Inlcudes 19" wheels,RR Spoiler with GF (Gurney Flap I'm assuming), OTT Stripe delete and last but most importantly 3.73 Limited slip axle!
GT's aren't working, but I've been trying to trick it into giving me some info. Only things I've found were:
Option 55D Brembo Brake pkg
443 6 Speed auto trans
3 different 19" tires listed (1 245/45R19, 2 255/40R19, I assume one will be a summer only compound).
402A Package looks to be return of California Special
Thats about all I can find right now. Looks like we'll all get the info soon if order bank opens Jan 18th, order guides should be available then!
I want the spoiler delete available on all Mustangs (Camaros, too, PLEASE!!!!). As far as early in the year release, remember what they did originally. The Mustang came out as a "1965" model months ahead of the Barracuda which was called rightly a 1964.
Thnx for the correction but maybe I am relying on a fading memory that says the Plymouth dealers had basically no Cudas while the Ford dealers had a bunch of Mustangs early.
I like talking to my dad about him getting all excited about new vehicle introductions in the 1950s and 1960s. He remembers how exciting the 1957 Plymouth introduction was. He said a commercial would come on TV and a car would fly by the camera so fast you couldn't see what it was, and then it said "SUDDENLY! IT'S 1960!" Seeing that he was about 5 at the time and still remembers it, it shows how big of a deal new cars debuts were back then.
The 5.0 with a 6 speed auto and optional Brembo's will be a fun all around package. I'm thinking that might be a $40,000 GT unfortunately. It would make for a fun daily driver with easy 12 second performance.
Apparently got Fords attention as well since the Shelby won't come up in the ordering computer anymore. Still can get minor details like I could on the GT, but before I could actually order the Shelby, now its "not available for processing"
When is the LA auto show? What all will we find out about the 2011 Mustang at the show? Rumors are swirling and Ford needs something to help pick up sales. We know the five O is coming and the 3.7 V6 I assume but is there anything else of significance? I am pretty sure six speeds are coming as well.
I am really looking forward to learning more. Maybe its just because i like the blue oval but Ford seems to have a lot in the till right now. I wonder if the Feista will be there?
The LAIAS starts December 4 this year and runs a little over a week (seems like it's getting backed up a week every year). The 2010 Mustang was unveiled at last year's show so it would be fitting if they unveiled the 2011 upgrades at this year's show. The 2011 Mustang's upgrades are largely expected to be powertrain related since this is the main area where the Mustang needs to improve. A new 5.0L V8, 3.7L V6, and 6-speed transmissions are ALL coming, and the GT500 is expected to finally get an aluminum block for its 5.4L V8 as well.
The North American version of the Fiesta will make its debut at the LAIAS, so yes, it'll be there. Considering Ford is letting people test drive European-spec Fiestas around at local auto shows (I have) they're definately interested in releasing the car into the North American market soon.
The embargo on 2011 V-6 Mustang information will lift at 12am Monday. It looks and sounds pretty good, and by good I mean it will lay waste to the Camaro V-6.
Look foward too it. By demolishing the Camaro, that means over 300hp, 30mpg, and possible enhancments to the car to make it better.
Oh boy...its like it used to be. There hasnt been a true hard core head to head match up of the Mustang vs Camaro in 20 years.
I'd bet that's pretty close... Seeing as the Camaro will have 1.2L up on the Mustang, let's hope it will show up in the HP/Torque department big time. And ya I know 'the 5.0 has 4 valves per cylinder'.. It just sucks to see a smaller motor make equivalent HP numbers as the larger one. Particularly in a Muscle/Pony car.... I'd actually like GM to come out with 6.0 badges on the front fenders and let the Pony car war commence... Kinda like that movie Spinal Tap. 'A normal amplifier volume goes to 10, so what we did is make ours go to 11'
305 horsepower at 6500 rpm, 280 pound-feet at 4250 rpm and 30 mpg with the automatic, on the highway. “We are the only ones who can provide 30 mpg and 305 horsepower,” says Barb Samardzich, Ford’s global powertrain vice president. What’s more, redline is now a Honda-like 7000 rpm.
