Re: Worst Technical Gremlin you ever had?

Yep. Put in a fan control module and she works fine.

Re: Worst Technical Gremlin you ever had?

Ah I can think of one on my current car. 1989 Olds 98 touring sedan(great car btw, 220k miles on it and it runs great, knock on wood)

Anyway I parked my car for a month and went on vacation to my mom's house in Kansas(I took another way down lol) and when I came back there was an annoying grinding sound whenever I revved a little. It would usually taper off around 1500 rpms or so. It would usually do it for around 2 weeks, then stop for around 3. Then come back again. Well eventually it never went away so I had it looked at. Turns out I dodged a bullet. Instead of being some disastrous thing(thank god lol) it was just the guard between the flywheel and transmission. So basically just a quick grind and she started purring again.

Anyone else here with a car like mine? All the electrical works great, runs good. Great car and it was my very first car that I actually owned. Got it at an auction for like 50 dollars and needed a new coil pack. It's a real nice looking car, but it's been a little beat up in its old age. It'd be nice to restore it someday but I dont have the money for that.

it has the wrong temp censer in it. had the same issue. it should be on the driver side just under one of the plugs.
get a hand held temp gun and see if it really is that high. or and after market water temp gauge and see what it tells you.
timming might be off.

During the first 4,000 miles, 14 separate defects surfaced (including numerous major defects). The car was in the shop for more than 30 days for repairs.
Chevrolet repurchased the car under Ohio's Lemon Law following BBB arbitration.
This car was full of defects and "gremlins" and was the worst built car I have owned in my 35 years of driving. I have no doubt many of the defects were a result of intentional poor workmanship. I was glad when I learned the auto plant that built this car was closed at the end of the Camaro run.
Concur.
If Quebec ever breaks away from the grt white north, you'll have france crossed with moldova....
My 98 camaro is actually fairly well constructed, tho. the union must have made them happy. no wonder Morrisette was always so pi$$ed off...

Re: Worst Technical Gremlin you ever had?

2000 Cadillac Seville STS.

Quite often I'll turn my car on and it will have a Security light on the dash with a message on the DIC reading "Service Theft System". The ignition switch is brand new and we've replaced the theft module along with a brand new key and it still there. It happens more often on cold mornings and wet, soggy mornings. When it's warm outside it might happen 3-4x a week, where if its cold it can happen up to 3-4x a day. I'm at a loss for what it could be.

My solution now is to turn the car off and turn it back on, and it goes right away.
