TPM's Question?

I own a 2008 GMC Sierra and have changed the tires to an e-rating. They seem to ride and handle the best at around 50PSI. The problem is this sets off the TPMS warning system. I have it at the dealer for service and they are trying to find where you set the PSI rating with the tech 2. Is there anyone out there that can give me step by step directions that I can forward to my dealer on how to do this. I am trying to get them to set the nominal pressure to 50psi which should not set off the warning unless it varies +/- 10psi.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Mike

you cannot change the value for the tire pressure, you are probably thinking of when reprogramming some rcdlrs you have to tell the pressure to the module.the pressures are set and have to stay the same because of nhtsa guidelines and safety reasons.if you run a pressure outside of the door placard then you are going to have a lite.

Re: TPM's Question?

IT CAN be done ! But the problem is finding a dealer thats willing to
do it ...............................

I had issues with the TPMS warnings while trying to run my LT245-75-16
Deathstones at less than the required 50 frt./80 rear while not towing
or during the winter for better traction...................

The system finally went crazy with constant warning light and low pressure
warning message that I was unable to clear using the DIC buttons.
Also the tire pressure display showed 0 for each tire.
Not to mention monthly tire pressure warnings from Onstar !

So off to the dealer and get my truck hooked up to mate with the
Tech 2.

Seems somebody entered the wrong tire pressure values somehow and
now my truck is set for 45 psi in all 4 tires. They also de-aired my tires
to 45 psi....................
Sure rides a lot better but I wonder what will happen when I go to tow
my boat or camper and air up the tires to the required 50/80 psi's ?????

Good thing I have plenty of FREE warranty service left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
