    Silverado service air bag message

I have a 2004 Silverado, std cab, 2wd, 4.3 auto, and the message center says to service air bag system. I took it to a reliable repair shop, they ran the code, and its somekind of a module (450 dollar part) that is not working. Take the seat out replace part, put back together and hope everything lines up and works.
They told me that from 03-07 Chevy trucks had some problems with this part.
My question is, if I put newer seats in out of say an 08-09 pickup will the wiring match up and work? or will I have the same problems?
Any advice or ideas would be appreciated.

"Hope everything lines up and works" is not a diagnosis from a reliable repair shop. "Replace the $450 module, and your problem will be cured" is a reliable diagnosis.

Changing the seats will have no bearing on the problem. It's the module not the seats that has the problem. A dealer can tell you what year model the modules fit. The module isn't part of the seat.

I had two GM vehicles flag that message on the dash- due to a low battery condition. Both vehicles had been sitting for extended periods of time. Not saying a module couldn't be bad, but .........

After purchasing a new 2008 Impala LTZ, I received the "service air bag" message on the DIC after driving several thouand miles. The dealer determined wiring connectors for the front end air bag sensors needed repair (the car was never damaged or wrecked).

Later, I received the warning again. This time, the dealer determined the seatbelt buckle assembly for the front passenger seat was defective and had to be replaced.

Each time the dealer stated there was a technical service bulletin that detailed the problem and the repair.

Go to a dealer and have this critical safety system diagnosed and repaired.

    Good luck.

"Go to a dealer and have this critical safety system diagnosed and repaired"

    Very wise words.
