Question for anyone in the know with older chevys
Hey guys, the time I spoke with my dad he asked me if I would search the net for him to see if the rear axle from a 1957 chevrolet is the same as one in a 62 impala. If anyone knows it would be much appreciated thanks.

Re: Question for anyone in the know with older chevys
My sole experiences with older Chevys are growing up with my Dad's 1955 Chevy and my beloved 2nd car, my Dad's 1968 V-8 Nova I bought from him....I crossed the US a few times in that baby!

I don't think so, a '62 Impala is like a foot wider

Re: Question for anyone in the know with older chevys
The design is the same, hotchkiss style (removeable center section), 8.2" 10 bolt with 17 spline pinion gear.
The shaft lengths, housing size and mounting, are different. Parts, while available, are expensive and limited. Unless doing a full-tilt resto, there are many better options out there. A 2nd Gen F-body 8.5" 10bolt, or a Currie 9" to name a couple.
