Newbie here... need ideas... strange electrical issue on an 06 LaCrosse
Hey everyone,
I'm new here and I have strange situation that I'd like your input on. My wife has a 2006 LaCrosse CXL. The other day it tripped the MIl... so like a good husband, I plugged in the code reader and took care of the problem and cleared the code. Well, it had been a while since I needed to use the code reader, so I simply started the car and plugged in the code reader and turned it on. As soon as I did that , there were loud repeated popping noises coming through the stereo speakers... weird. I hooked up the code reader with the key set to on, but without the engine running and then turned the code reader on. In this condition, the code reader couldn't even establish a link with the car. So I started the engine again, plugged in the code reader and again POP-POP-POP-POP-POP over the speakers... well i put up with it just because I only had one code to clear. The code reader retrieved the information and I was able to clear the code. Ever since then, each morning the clock on teh factory radio says 6:00AM when my wife leaves for work (around noon). The radio works, the car starts, everything is just fine... except it's almost like the clock resets itself or looses power momentarily overnight. This has happened two mornings in a row. This is really weird. I am hoping that this clock/code reader weirdness is just a coincidence. In any case, anyone ever heard of this? Any ideas? |

Why would you clear a code on a 2 year old car? That Buick is covered for 4/50 k miles bumper to bumper. You also can not use a cheap code reader from Pep Boys. That vehicle uses the GM Lan communication.Just bring in to the dealer.

The code was set due to an apparently leaking gas cap. Installed a new gas cap, cleared the code and the problem has not come back since. What is this LAN? How is it different? I am not finding much about it through my searches. My cheap code reader did in fact find and clear the code... just wondering what code reader I should be using for this LAN protocol...
