GM dexos1 engine oil - Only two majors say YES to GM's dexos1 engine oil

GM's new dexos1 engine oil hit the streets on October 1. Interestingly, only two US major oil companies say they will offer a licensed dexos1 engine oil for passenger cars (ExxonMobil and Shell). Whereas others say the they will have dexos "capable" engine oils, they are turning their backs on GM's hefty licensing fee.

    For more, see www.jobbersworld.com

Also, Valvoline was the first to say no to GM... looks like most other majors followed their lead.

I don't want to start a ****-storm here, but when it comes to Valvoline they never even made an oil that met the GM4718M specification.

Valvoline's SynPower only achieved the much less stringent GM6094M specification.

Use whatever oil you want, but Valvoline's rejection of dexos comes as little surprise to me.

    very interesting about Valvoline.
Thats all I use in my cars--- Valvoline Premium Conventional 5W-30.
    2003 Trailblazer.
    2007 Impala
    2008 Lucerne
    2010 Traverse.

    Eventhough its dino...
I have used oil analysis of this oil going up to 11,000 miles between oil changes in the Trailblazer and performing great.
In my Traverse... the Direct Injection engine.. this oil does pretty well with oil change intervals of 5500 mile.
Other Lambdas running Mobil 1 get worse UOA reports with LESS MILES.
    BUt Ill keep using Valvoline.

Just more incentive to keep using Mobil-1.
