A fix for the Series 2/3800 V6 upper intake?

The 2000 and up, have a reduced diameter LIM EGR chimney, but that merely delays the inevitable as the OEM UIM stayed the same.

The link is the only steel liner that I know of, but the LIM diameter is still crucial.

If you like the car and want to keep it, use that UIM and buy a replacement LIM with the 2000 and up reduced EGR chimney.

There was a guy over at the bonneville club that was selling the reduced chimney he made out of stainless iircc.

You would need to "pluck" the older chimney out of the LIM and gently tap the reduced chimeny in using a socket to make sure force was evenly spread.

Either of these methods for getting a reduced diameter chimeny is acceptable and is still needed to provide an heat insulating area around the chimeny to avoid direct heat transfer to the UIM.

Torque for the LIM is , if i remember correctly, 11 ft lbs, and for the UIM..89 INCH pounds.

These must be in the proper sequence..with three passes. I use blue thread lock, and 1/3 increments until the maximum values are reached.

Coolant should be G-05 or a Chrysler / Ford clone, in my opinion. Also, replace the rad cap with a aftermarker.

my 2004 3800 had the problem with the gaskets and i was losing coolant
