Dumb question just about anyone can answer.

Ok, so tonight I have a brain fart. What is that cheap part that you need to change when you do an oil change. It has something to do with the air getting to the engine and has a ball in it. If it needs to be replaced, the ball doesn't freely move when you shake it.

Also, does my truck have one? I have the 5.3 in it.

Thanks guys!!

What do I win?

I don't think your truck has one btw 'Rock. But the super Chevy guys might have the exact answer......I guess I am a moderate Chevy guy!

Re: Dumb question just about anyone can answer.

I'm pretty sure all highway vehicles have one.

You don't need to change the valve with your oil change. That's far, FAR too frequent. Do it when you change the air filter.

Re: Dumb question just about anyone can answer.

That truck doesn't have one,per se...

I believe it's a fixed orifice...99% of the time just clean them in light solvent and reinstall.

Re: Dumb question just about anyone can answer.

Would my 1998 Dodge Caravan with 100,000 miles on it have one?

Probably...

I usually clean them in some light solvent and reinstall...however many aftermarket ones are very cheap, and not worth the effort of cleaning.
