Does the iPod aux. jack in the Malibu require XM?

Posted over at ChevyMalibuForum...

Guy didn't want XM anymore, when his trial subscription ended, his Aux. jack stopped working along with it. Is this supposed to happen? I don't think the Aux. jack is hooked up to XM, is it?

My Dad's 2007 Silverado does not have XM active and the aux jack in it still works just fine.

Coincidence, nothing more.

Possibility that it doesn't actually have an AUX jack and he just jammed the plug into a crack on the radio

Heeyyyyyy...
So I screwed up. He meant the PAL cable.
Basically same problem, only PAL cable went dead after XM dead. Still a coincidence?

Re: Does the iPod aux. jack in the Malibu require XM?

To my knowledge the PAL cable is not even being sold for the Malibu yet? I thought only the Solstice, Sky, G5, Cobalt, and HHR had the PAL system thus far.

Re: Does the iPod aux. jack in the Malibu require XM?

I don't know...he has one apparently or he wouldn't be asking about it.
I read that it doesn't have any relation to XM service, it just uses the XM band to work or something.
Maybe the PAL itself is broken?

I see they now list the PAL for the Malibu. My guess it is a problem with the radio and PAL. GM has had a bazillion problems with the PAL system.
