Cobalt steering columns rattle

The GF's car has been doing this for awhile now. When it was checked by the "dealer", they acknowledged the noise and in the column and stated right on the invoice that GM currently does not have a fix for it.

I think this is pure BS as people on CobaltSS.net are still reporting getting them fixed. I think they just can't be bothered doing it because the car is almost out of warranty.

Anyone shed some light on this?

Re: Cobalt steering columns rattle

i know that a few of the new SS cobalts were held back on quality control issues due to that same problem-and our DSM said that the brakes were supposedly the reason for it. not sure if it's the same problem or not tho.

Re: Cobalt steering columns rattle

It's probably the intermediate steering shaft. I don't know if it applies to the Cobalt, but I saw a bulletin about taking the shaft out and rotating it 180 degrees.
