99 chev air bag light stays on - how to fix?

My 99 chev suburban air bag light recently just stayed on. Fuse is ok. Mechanic checked front and side crash sensors. Are there others or other things to check before I spend $86 for a diagnostic r.eadout

there are way to many things that can cause an airbag lite to diagnose on here,you need to see what dtc is set and go from there.

What can I check without going to the diagnostics ? Where are the crash sensors located on this model? How about the seat sensors

Does your horn work, it may be the clock spring.

You can not fix anything untill you know what to fix.So have someone scan it for DTC's and tell you what it will take to fix it.There are no flash codes etc..You need a scan tool capable of pulling SIR codes like a Tech2 which all GM dealers use.

what about the crash snsors> where are they - understand a loose connection can make light stay on

Yes a loose connection can turn a light on.I highly doubt that your crash sensor connectors just suddenly became "loose" though.Just pony up and pay a qualified person to scan for DTC's and diagnose the problem.

the horn does not run through the airbag coil(clockspring) so like I said before have it scanned and go from there.
