    3800 Cam sensor magnet

Does anybody know if there exists a Cam sensor magnet that installs opposite the direction the factory one does? If so you could swap out the magnet without tearing everything apart. I'm really not looking forward to puling the harmonic balancer, water pump, timing cover and chain to do this fix, when it would seem like you should be able to modify the housing on the sensor and just make it mate from the other side.

This guy has a "solution", but anything that involves JB welding something in place gives me an unsettling feeling.

Yes I'm an auto engineer that ACTUALLY works on cars. Kinda weird huh.

Buick bring back T-Types. I love 80's cars, does that make me weird?

If one of these existed it would make an all day job take about 30 minutes. Also it would make a $500+ repair at a shop more like $100. This magnet seems to be a somewhat common problem, and if they would have just made it fit in to the sprocket the other way you wouldn't have this problem. It would be a cheap easy fix. You can access the hole in the cam sprocket through the mount for the CAM sensor, so why not?
