    2013 Malibu Oil Filter

We've been looking at cars for a while now and finally decided on a 2013 Malibu LTZ in white diamond. Car fits what we want perfectly, plus the missus loves it. Question is, where did they move the oil filter to? I haven't driven it up on ramps yet, but it's not on top under the hood like the previous 2 generation 4-cyl Malibus.

It should be under the vehicle again and also use a pf64 now.

They moved it? Man, the ecotec was one of the easiest to do an oil change on. Filter on top, less mess.

Personally I liked the filter location on the Tech4 2.5L when it was in the pan.
You have to crawl under to pull the drain plug anyway.

i have one of those vac pumps that sucks the oil out from the dipstick, so between that and the cartridge filter on my 2.4, I never have to get dirty again. The industry was moving to cartridges recently, and for whatever reason they cost more than the canister style design? Never made sense to me. The 1.4T still uses a cartridge filter, but I believe it's under the car.

    Re: 2013 Malibu Oil Filter

Thanks for the help, guys! I found it to be at the front of the engine near the radiator, just below a large canister on the exhaust system. Is this canister a new way of installing the catalytic converter? Even though the filter is now below the engine, it appears to be fairly easy and clean to get to and change.

most GM engines from the last 6-8 years have done so, the Captiva is a notorious for that exhaust though. can make things difficult when things are hot still.
