2004 Buick Lesabre Service Engine Light

A couple of weeks ago I posted I had at PO442 code diagnosed on my 2004 Buick Lesabre. I replaced the gas cap and the light went out after driving car for a week. My question is did the code clear out of the ECM or is it stored and will it have to be cleared by an OBD2 scanner?

has to be cleared, but after many many cycles of the car on & off it will clear if the code doesn't come up again
