2002 Malibu A/C turning off

Button will blink on and off on its own running on MAX A/C on the highway at times. Turn it off wait a few minutes and it usually comes back on. Sounds like a bad HVAC switch?

Re: 2002 Malibu A/C turing off

could be never experienced that problem personally but the HVAC switch would be the first place I'd look. If not then it could be a wiring problem of some sort

One question: how to get the bezel off? I can get it about 1/3 off. Don't want to break it

Re: 2002 Malibu A/C turning off

if you have access to a tech 2 then i would check to see the status of the a/c position command. i have had a few of the malibus with the problem described, usually being a control head, also sometimes a pressure switch, could be several things, could even be low on charge.

Re: 2002 Malibu A/C turning off

I also have a 2002 Malibu with a similar problem.

When I have the AC set on "recirculating air", it'll sometimes switch the AC off and back to the other mode...I guess it's called "direct air".
