    2001 Suburban Window Regulator.

    Hi
Trying to replace power window regulator cable on my 2001 Suburban. Can I just replace the cable or do I have to replace regulator as well? Went through a RIDE program opened the door and almost hit and knocked over the officer. Think it is time to fix window.
    Thanks in advance.

The cable is part of the regulator.

The cable/regulator/motor is usually sold as a one piece replacement
assembly. A genuine GM is quite $pendy at $200? or so.

Check online and call around to local parts houses. We just replaced
both of them in my buds 01 gmt-800 pickup. Got them from a local
parts house for $70 each. Have seen them on line for less than $50
but we wanted them NOW and closeby so the added expense was
    worth it.

The first one was a PIA to install and the second one was a piece of cake!
You can DIY with simple handtools and a few hours ..............

I think you will find a wide range of prices if you look online. If you are looking for aftermarket they will usually always be cheaper but you get what you pay for. For OEM I buy from Chevy Parts You could always try ebay as well, but ive heard some downright horrid stories lately about people buying auto parts on ebay.

Normally I'd agree that you get what you pay for. But in this case, the GM part is nothing to write home about. It has an extremely high failure rate.

Here's a link to a "how-to" replace a window regulator article with photos. It's on an Oldsmobile Alero, but similar to other GM models.

I agree with rick here the GM window regulators are just as much junk as any aftermarket one so you might as well go with the cheaper one. Im always replacing these things at the dealership im at.
