1988 Brougham D'Elegance

Does anyone know of any common problems with this vehicle? I'm most likely going to be taking it off the hands of a friend of mine in the near future, and I wanna know any reputations it might have for specific problems.

Thanks.

Re: 1988 Brougham D'Elegance

The Olds 307 V8 was carburated, which for some is a liability. Worst case scenarios on the 307's were some engine knocks which the cylinders would "oval out" causing a knock & excessive oil consumption, however most of those were most likely caught under warranty. Also the carb MC solenoid, the IAC and TPS did fail on the 307's as well as the floats filling up with gasoline. THe automatic HVAC system had troubles with the blower control module failing, causing the blower not to work at all or to work all the time, even hen the car was off. Power antenna failures occurred as did failure of the rear air shocs after a while.
