04 Grand Prix Cruise Control issues

Wondering if anyone had a idea what could be causing this problem
the cruise control works fine when setting it and cruising but when u try to hit the accel button to speed up alittle bit, it completly shuts off the cruise control. so u must completly reset it. Would this be a problem with the steering lever switch?

I would say so because if you push that same slider the other way it turns it off.

any GM dealer, preferably a pontiac dealer. chevy may have them as well. dont get a aftermarket one, it will mess up or it will not work properly.
