Rear Object Sensor Package added to my G8 GT
Forgive the cell phone photos and unwashed car. My wife has the digital camera right now and it has rained a lot the past few days here.
For the bargain price of $389 installed I got the rear sensor package put on my G8GT. I have missed this feature from my LaCrosse CXS quite a bit. ![]() The speaker unit has three settings Off, Low, and High. The manual recommends Off for trailering or mounting a bike frame on the back. The manual (2007) features a digram of a Holden Monaro/Pontiac GTO for the example installation. The speaker is velcroed to a post forward and above the battery. ![]() All that is left from GM accessories that I want is the splash guards. They have been on order for like three months now. I may put on that chrome gas cap in a year or so too.

Cool mod..
Good to see you were able to install it and have what you missed off your previous vehicle.. Sure must come in handy. JB

Re: Rear Object Sensor Package added to my G8 GT
So does it work good? How did they install the sensors on the bumper...drill holes?
I'm thinking about doing this on my G8, so I'm curious to hear more.

Make sure you have the right color code when ordering. The names are not even close to the Pontiac Color Names. Sport Metallic Red (26U) is listed as Bright Red. Labor was $75 for the install. I had a $15 coupon for GM service sent to me. They used it. Now that I remember it was only supposed to be used for over $100 of service. The Package was $299 plus tax. As for the work. The dealership I could tell was a bit apprehensive about doing it. They said it would be the first time they would be doing it. They did alright. I pulled back the panels afterwards. They forget to plug my left rear tail light back in. Also, I used some elastic bands to make neat bundles with the excess wire. When you put in R you here two slow beeps. This is the Built-In test running. At about five feet you here slow beeps. From 3 ft in you here fast beeps. It becomes a solid tone at one foot. It is competing with your stereo so you may want to tap the mute button on the steering wheel to reduce the distraction. Wish the kids came with mute some days. I delivered it at 7:30 in the morning. The dealership called me with the job being done by 11:30. They were starting the day with a back log. I will be happy to tell you anything else you want to know.

Re: Rear Object Sensor Package added to my G8 GT
I bet a rear sensor is almost essential when backing up 30' of fun. I was spoiled after owning the LaCrosse for three years and hated driving rentals or anything else without it. The rear vis on the G8 is not terrible but not awesome either. I am super cautious about backing up too close or pulling in too close due to the low front end too.
