Not a GM,

but it's mine. I guess I'm just a sucker (addict might be a better word) for these things.

It's a 2004 Ford Taurus, and it's friggen loaded. Power windows/mirrors/seats/locks, power adjustable pedals, auto-dim rear view mirror, heated wing mirrors with built in puddle lamps, sunroof (I can't wait for summer), console shift, leather wrapped steering wheel, spoiler, trip computer. I love it.

The color is actually "Spruce Green"(we think), though it comes out grey on camera.

48,000miles, put on by one owner. It's never seen fleet duty.

I actually looked at many different cars. None of them (other than the Aura, which is a little out of my range) really seemed that great compared to the Taurus though. I wasn't actually planning on getting another Taurus, but this one was too good to pass up.

Congrats! It looks great. I always liked the Taurus too. I'm sure you will get a lot of good use out of it.

Re: Not a GM,

Congratulations.
May it serve you well.
There's a lot to be proud of owning a Made in the U.S.A. car.
Helping support your neighbors and strengthen your community.

Unlike the import vehicles that cause spontaneous riots and huge increases in crime and poverty and 97% of all smog.

One scientific study has conclusively shown that import vehicles foster flatulence, increase your ugly quotient, add wrinkles, promote baldness and help you grow a beer belly.
And that study was conducted using 20-something aerobics instructors that were former gymnasts and bikini team members.

Those same import vehicles also emit toxic gases that lower your IQ by at least 40 points.

At least that's what I've heard.
But that could just be one of those internet rumors started on a car forum.

Congratulations on what looks like an awesome vehicle.

Re: Not a GM,

Nice, I just traded my wife's Taurus for a new Malibu.

One thing to watch for, the heater core. ours ruptured at 50k and had to replace it along with the air ducts due to them getting ruined by the super hot and smelly antifreeze. At 93k it went again and I decided to just unload it. The repair cost around $800. Yours is a newer model but I think it was still a problem until the latest redesign. Mine was a 99 with the 3.0 vulcan in it.

Having said all of that, it has a very nice ride and is super comfortable.

Re: Not a GM,

Congrats! I can vouch for the heater core thing......mine lasted a hell of a long time before biting the bullet last summer ('93 w/the 3.0 Vulcan). With that said, you should be treated to one comfortable ride in that baby

Re: Not a GM,

With a spoiler and floor shifter, you're in one sporting ride for sure

But seriously that is a good buy.

Hey good job man. The Taurus is a good car, period. Nice spoiler!

You okay there plane? You need a little timeout perhaps? Do we need to call your mom?

Re: Not a GM,

Plane - douze points The best post I read today, or perhaps this week

King Riffle - congratulations and have a lot of fun with the Taurus! Call me whatever, but I like this interior very much, especially in light colours - clean and looking to be well-assembled. What is more, it still looks like a new car after 4 years!

Plane, I think you were supposed to stick this in teh What do you look like thread. Mods can you please shift?

Congrats King Riffle on your "new" car. I must say I was surprised at the interior and have to agree with Bravada as far as how well it has held up. It appears so clean and functional but the vintage, evident in its deisgn, makes me feel weird for complimenting it.

Re: Not a GM,

Thanks for the compliments (and for those of you with negative things, well you're just jealous).

It's nice to own a domestic car (especially ones that are actually "domestic" cars), when they are good. I did look at some foreign cars though. I can't believe the prices of used Hondas. I could light a 2000 Civic on fire, pee it out, and still get $6,000 for it. Insane.

It is a very well maintained car. I'm a little surprised that it doesn't have the DOHC Duratec engine, as the original owner really optioned it out. The OHV Vulcan is fine for me though. I really do prefer the '04+ interiors, though there aren't many differences (steering wheel, instrument panel, dashboard colors, headrests, visors, door handles). It's another rattle-free interior too, just like the '01.

I hadn't heard about the heater core problem. I'll have to investigate that.

Heck yes it's sporty!
