My favorite part of the Mercedes is the crank windows. But hey, she owns a Mercedes now.

Nice Astra! They're sharp looking cars.

The most important thing is, does your sister like it?
Well, she would like almost every vehicle that has A/C, is small and convenient to park.
That's why if she bought one of the cars I would recommend her (Fiat 500, Mini, Opel Corsa or even Kia Cee'd or Lacetti) both sides would be happy.

You mean 'Medical Academy'? No, but I bet there are at least two black GTCs at their parking lot since Astra GTC has become popular in Warsaw. Today I left my car near Krakowskie Przedmiescie because of traffic jams in Swietokrzyska street and went for a walk and saw 3 black GTCs. No wonder it has become the most popular color, it looks best in black.

You are right, me and Bravada do live in Poland. Beautiful country of beautiful people excluding politicians.
We look forward to seeing more Polish people here on GMi.

I can always quote my daddy who since I was born has always repeated 'Mercedes is always a Mercedes'. No matter what that means

Thanks dude! To express my thankfulness I tell You You have nice vehicles too. I always liked the Pathinder and always loved Firebird (if You own one), the Accord is also likeable, especially compared to Camry

I appreciate that! Yes, it's definitely more likable than the Camry, especially the 2004 vintage Camry. It's been a great car for me - it's paid off and I will have owned it for exactly four years next Tuesday (61,000+ miles). Since it's been so good, I can now think about holding onto it a few more years and getting a fun third car with the money that would have gone toward its replacement.

My dad owns a 69 Firebird 400 four speed; he's owned it for years, and he always said that someday it will be mine. Hopefully he'll just hand it over, since I'm such a good son...but if he ever got to the point where he HAD to sell it, I'd find a way to buy it. Since I sanded the entire car between coats of lacquer when we restored it (about 15 years ago), it has a lot of sentimental value to me. Plus, the Pontiac V8 kicks ass. Pic:

Oh, and the Pathfinder has been good to us too, but it's only two years old and has 27,000 miles. I wish it had a little more interior space, but it's good for my wife to drive our son around.

Re: new prestigious import in the family (pics inside)

I'd pick my grandfather's 1980 diesel Mercedes over that piece of crap.
It may be slow and old, but at least it has some class and power windows, not to mention that it's probably more reliable despite being 27 years old.
You're Opel looks great though

But then again, all those cars have "fart burners" on them. That "fart burner" ads 5-10HP to your car ;some of those small Hondas can whip a Vett off the line. (from anti-rice.com)
So 115hp+10hp=430hp, at least in ricerland

All good choices, obviously - perhaps except for the Mini, which grew awfully pretentious. The Kia Cee'ds seem to be selling like hot buns, don't they? Lately I can rarely look at the streets and not see one every time!

Whatever you'd say, it is truly the return to Kia's roots, great value with reasonable styling! Lacetti's eating its hearts out, can't wait for the new model (hopefully to be made here to counter the Slovakian Cee'd).

It's Hugger Orange...that was the factory color. Actually the car is not clear coated, and not painted in urethane like most new cars are. It has the traditional lacquer paint - about 7 coats - and as I mentioned above, I sanded each of them until smooth, then it's buffed to a shine.

Sadly, the car spends most of its life under a cloth cover in a garage. It's probably driven less than 100 miles per year. If I owned it, that would be different.

At least it has a manual transmission, something we can't get in most all vehicles here at any price, and this is in a stripper

Between the two, I'd take the Astra of course .... I've heard Mercedes dealers have never felt the B series was a true Mercedes vehicle. By the looks of it, I would say they are right.

I like the A-class. I like the first generation better though.

You'd think they'd let Chrysler sell it instead of killing it.
