New Member Of The Family - 2008 Torrent

Well, after a couple of months of research and decisions we have a new member in the family fleet, a 2008 Sedona Beige Pontiac Torrent. It's my mother's new vehicle and replaces her Durango, which we still have since it's worthless as a trade-in.

We looked at pretty much all the compact and mid-size CUVs on the market under $30,000 and narrowed it down to the Hyundai Santa Fe, Nissan Rogue, Saturn VUE, Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent. The Saturn VUE Green Line was the pack leader until we found it quite uncomfortable for my father and I to drive. The Rogue and Santa Fe are impressive, but neither have the style and overall comfort of the Torrent. The Equinox is, of course, the same as the Torrent, but my mother (and myself) like the Torrent's styling more, and I know guys at the Pontiac dealer.

So, it's got every option except for the roof rack crossbars, tow package, chrome package and navigation. I wish it had something other than the Chinese-built 3400, but it's not a bad engine when it comes to power and economy. I also wish it had better materials and fit and finish in some spots and lighted door switches like basically every other GM vehicle. I really like the Multi-Flex rear seat with it's near-perfect armrest, the decent handling and steering and the styling, both inside and out.

Stickered for $29,010, got it for $25,995 with a GMPP 5yr./100K mi. $0 deductable bumper to bumper warranty upgrade and got 2.9% financing.

Finally, here are a few quick pics:

Sweet Ride. Though not a fan of SUV, nor a re-badging business, but I have to tell ya, Torrent is good choice over Equinnox and over any imports from Korea or Japan(Not a fan of any of them). Good luck with it. Enjoy it in many, many happy miles.

Congrats.

Re: New Member Of The Family - 2008 Torrent

Thanks guys.

We went to the dealer friday evening to look at and probably buy another Torrent with the exact same options but in Teal on Ebony, but when we got there it was being sold. The Sedona Beige was a second choice but I personally like the Sand/Ebony interior more as I think it looks more upscale than all-Ebony. It took another night of debate on weather or not to order one in Teal or get the Sedona Beige on saturday. You can see our choice.

That's a nice Torrent man, my personal favorite color combo. A guy on my block has a near identical one and he's replaced the wheels with 19" black 6-spoke chrome, it really accents his SUV well. If I had a camera I'd take pictures.
