My New Car Was Built Yesterday!

Dear friends,

It is with great pride and happiness that I share with you the good news that my new car completed final assembly yesterday, Thursday January 31, at Detroit/Hamtramck.

Throughout 2007 I swore up and down that I was "not buying a car this year". So I placed my order on the first business day of 2008!

Those of you who have followed my posts over the past number of years will know that I am no fan of FWD; but alas, after much consideration and several test drives, I am about to take delivery of a DTS Lux III.

I have been very low-key about this for the past month as I ordered it in 54U Cognac Frost Tricoat, and was never too sure if it would be produced before this color was scheduled to end production the week of Feburary 4.

I chose the DTS Lux III after driving Audi Q7 3.6; Cadillac DTS Lux III, Performance; SRX Northstar; STS 3.6 SIDI; Mercedes-Benz C300, E320 Bluetec, R320 CDI; Saab 9-7x; and, Saturn Sky.

At the end of the day the DTS Lux III was the best compromise for me. I already have a RWD Impala SS, and a RWD Tahoe, so I really don't need a performance sedan or an SUV, and somedays the Tahoe just rides too rough for my 43 year-old bones. The DTS Lux III was the quietest, and for me was the most comfortable, one to drive. It felt like putting on and old leather jacket.

I expect that it will arrive in another week or two, and when it comes I plan to keep it garaged until the snow melts and the roads are cleaned up sometime in May.

Many thanks to all of you who have helped in this decision, including: DuSpinnst, mkaresh, Bravada, jlmartin99, tomprice, and FamilyTruckster.

Thanks,

Congrats... If you want I'll run over to Hamtramck, pick it up and drive it to you.

Seriously... great choice.

Re: My New Car Was Built Yesterday!

Congratulations Tomko.
May your Cadillac bring you many years of enjoyment.
My teenage cruising and road-racing experiences were garnered in a very fine Cadillac.
With power everything, room enough for six and a large block engine.
Great for friends, cruising and 120++ mph on Hwy 20.
Just don't hit one window down button at 120.
Nothing could stop that Cadillac until a drunken coed in a crappy Toyota pulled out 10 feet in front of us. She was so drunk, got out of her car, what was left of it, and started laughing.

<censored><redacted><editorial comment><bleep><@#$@@>Toyota drivers.
@#$#$#@ I miss that Cadillac.

Congratulations Tomko. Nicely done.

Well at least the accident helped fuel your lifelong hatred of Toyota

How will I sleep now knowing I contributed to the decision of buying a DTS?

Seriously - I wish you much satisfaction with your car and many happy miles!

Re: My New Car Was Built Yesterday!

My Son and his family really love their 07 DTS. I saw a Lux III at my dealership a couple of weeks ago, during an evaluation of the CTS, and it was beautiful...Best Regards and good tidings!

The DTS looks amazing. One of my neighbours has a black one. Thanks for keeping GM # 1 in Canada!
