Re: My latest GM!

Border patrol, customs, same difference.

But never the less, US law says the grease needs to be properly disposed, but many restaurants still give it away (cheaper), but fines are heavy if they were to be caught. My step-dad is an executive Chef, and I was mentioning frier grease fuel to him, using the grease from the restaurant he runs. As much as he'd like to, he wasn't going to for those reasons.

But, considering it's just the US/Canada border, I doubt they'll stop you carrying grease for biodiesel. If they do, use a few gallons of grease as an oil slick to slip them up, and go balls out for the border.

Re: My latest GM!

I figured that GM figured they could put the diesel in the half ton because it didn't make much power anyway...

J/M, congratulations

Re: My latest GM!

I've put it at work lately, here it's pulling about 5,000# up a pretty steep gravel hill (can't really see the hill too well in the pics) without breaking a sweat.

I'm a very satisfied owner so far... I'll be working on a longer, lighter trailer soon... right now I'm wasting some towing capacity.

Back when it was still dirty:

I had a few tiny rust spots on the driver door. One of my resident managers used to do body work a while ago and convinced me to let him take care of that. The result:

(OK, he's supposed to fix it, but so far I'm not impressed. What a mess...)

There's a bit of rust on the tailgate... it's going to stay there for now (well, I know for sure that I'm not letting this guy touch it).

Re: My latest GM!

Update.

Took the truck to NC then WV then back home. That green trailer is quite heavy even when empty... now consider several thousand pounds of cargo for half the total mileage, and still got ~18 mpg overall, which is pretty amazing (almost all the driving was through hilly areas... I pretty much followed the Appalachians from NC to QC).

Runs great, extremely comfy on the highway compared to my other trucks... very pleasant to drive... roomy... cab easy to sleep in... reliable... great on fuel...

I could NOT BE any MORE satisfied with this GM truck!

I'll be taking some care of it this fall, it's well deserved it and I'm going to keep it for a while, definitively...

A few pics of truck + load:

(that old green trailer is going to be replaced soon)

Re: My latest GM!

P.S. the sides of the bed were useful... actually, essential... a stepside bed would have been a complete PITA. So, well, it's going to stay like that for now.
