Oh thats ok, my posting here tends to go in spurts.

Several members of my family have gone there too. I ended up breaking from the pack though. I'll be on my last semester at SIU Carbondale in a couple weeks.

I am old Saluki. I loved going to school in Carbondale. We will have to try to meet someday.

Carbondale has been really good to me. I'm going to be awful sad to leave after this semester. What was your major in?

I always bring this up, but don't they do like 1300 rpm at 70 mph?

Re: darndot's 92 Caprice Wagon

Mine doesn't have the tach package, but it running pretty low rpms. It should get 25MPG, but I will do some testing, and post back later.

My degree was in BS Advanced Technical Studies. It studied communication electronics. I am now a Dir of Information Technology at a Hospital.

My 1993 Roadmaster sedan...same engine & trans as darndot's Caprice Estate...I have a 2.56 axle ratio...
1300RPM @ 55-60....

1600 @ 72MPH...

If I keep it to 60-62MPH (2 lane road stuff) I can get 26MPG....however if I'm doing 72-73MPH on the Interstate...then it drops to abot 21-22MPG...

Oh wow, talk about it being a small world! I'm in Electronic Systems Technology (the spiritual successor to ATS) and following the industrial and biomedical tracts.

Yea, we're more in the St. Louis area. (Metro-east as they call it around here). Maybe I can catch you on your way through another time.

Re: darndot's 92 Caprice Wagon

Is Davenport still the industrial professor there? He was one of the best. I took industrial but went with communications instead. I didn't then and still don't like the biomed stuff. I don't like the ideal of doing something that could kill a person.

*nods*

Sounds like a plan to me.

In 2008, I'll be in the St Louis area in October. Unless, of course, I travel south before then .

Davenport is now the director for EST. He mostly handles administrative stuff but he still drops into the classrooms every now and then. I agree with you on the biomed. It won't be my first choice in a job. I took it as more of a backup in case I had trouble finding something in industrial right away.

I'll have to keep that in mind. Let me know.

Davenport gave me the toughest exam I ever had. It was open book after a two hours he took all the paper away from us. Nobody scored higher than a 25%. We never asked for a open book test again.

Darndot ... that car looks sweet! CONGRATULATIONS! I thought of you earlier today ... was looking through online ads and found a '94 (er, I think it was a '94) Caprice wagon with the Impala SS front end ... looked VERY good, btw .

A '94 SS would suit you though, Cort.
