darndot's 92 Caprice Wagon (New Photo 8/12/08)

I bought a 92 Caprice Wagon.

It has a 5.7 V8 with 111,000 miles. A sewing machine repair man owned it, and passed away recently. My plans are to make it a daily driver/interstate cruiser. I am going to swap out the grill and rims, and make it a Impala SS Wagon.

Future Mods: Radio, Tinted Windows, Impala Rims, Keyless Entry, Impala Grill. I think I will leave it blue, but it will need a paint job sometime.

LOL!

Yeah, maybe..... But ... I'm not too keen on the bubble body style. I'd rather have one of the box bodies ... '89 or '90 Caprice with the 9C1 ... or, better yet, a '77-'79 Caprice .

Darndot ... that car looks sweet! CONGRATULATIONS! I thought of you earlier today ... was looking through online ads and found a '94 (er, I think it was a '94) Caprice wagon with the Impala SS front end ... looked VERY good, btw .

Rats. I just spent the afternoon taking out the radiator. Gald I found that one out the easy way, and not along side the road.

Damn straight...looks fine...and a TBI...it'll run forever, and God forbid it breaks down..it'll be cheap to fix!

Re: darndot's 92 Caprice Wagon

Somebody has a quote on their signature. Chevy's run badly longer than most imports run at all.

I am hoping the radiator shop can fix it instead of replacing the whole thing. I would like to spend the money on something else like rims.

Re: darndot's 92 Caprice Wagon

That happened on my Roadmaster right after I bought it....

I had a seam starting to leak when cold of all things...so I bought a new Spectra radiator that was plastic & aluminum...I replaced all of the coolant hoses as well when at it. Then the new radiator leaked at the transcooler lines and I broke a trans line while R&Ring the 2nd time!!! All in all I spent a week's worth of evenings messing around. I should have just sent the old copper one out for a repair, but the core fins were starting to ash out...

Check Rockauto.com, even ebay for a comparison on the radiator...

Why slice through the wind when you can just punch a hole in it?

Congratulations on the wagon, darndot! Looks like a great find.

Thanks!

I'm located just a bit north of Greenville and a half hour or so south of Litchfield.
