You're probaby right. I've seen a few with bigger spoilers and they all look too big. I'll have to check out the '87.

Monte carlo:

Gm have a plans about this icon?
new Monte carlo SS ? could be a great Modern Muscle...
and very oryginal...

Chevy needs a good looking car

impala and malibu? -- they are ugly !

Impala should be great looking car !
Thats the way it always was.....
What they offer now looks like Hundai !! they should change name to Chevy "crapplooking" Umpala , Malubu !?

form the late 90- till now only Monte carlo tried to look interesting...at least there was an attempt to put some styling into Chevy car....

that 2 door "Cadillac eldorados and Monte carlo style" was sth interesting..
now , there's no american car that have a hints of this design -style
I think it started in middle 80-ties with regal, Monte carlo , Pontiac grand prix
they were fake muscle cars (althought there was 300 cu.in engines under the hood )
but this cars had good looks, and image behind them
(buick regal, Monte carlo etc...
Modern interpretations of that style could be interesting design excersize[

One from a recent random drive. I think the white crushed shell/dirt trail gives some good contrast between the dark grass, sky, and car. What do you guys think:

Looks good...would be even better if you colorized one element of the pic (the grass, sky or car) while leaving the rest B/W haha

I dunno, selective colouring has sort of become a cliché over the past few years. The grass is pretty ugly in colour, the sky would look odd, the trees are the same as the grass, and the car and gravel are both already black and white. I think the tasteful B&W conversion works well here.

That's the main problem with the open field areas of South Florida... they're usually really unappealing in colour for certain types of photography.

That's why I've consciously tried to avoid 'field' type settings.......

Selective colouring (sp?) though isn't as much of a cliche though as you might think. IMO, avoiding the 'cliche' part means doing a great job when picking your setting......might take some time to pick one out & then get the angle right, but if you pull it off, you can come away w/something that's straight out of an upscale gallery.....(In a city like mine, that's a real bitch....)

Haha, that's another problem with my area... you have to drive 20 miles to get to a half-decent setting. I tend to like selective colouring on a car that isn't black, white, or silver. Something like red usually looks pretty awesome if you pull it off right.

Your car's the reason why I suggested the selective colouring in the first place.....dunno if the black would be any different, but I thought the red from the SS graphics would give it a neat, if understated look

Re: 1986 Monte Carlo Progress (Photography Update 3 October)

This SS-man is a real killer...
black, burgund are only good coolors.... black with red SS stapels ..great .good job..

i wrote an article about modern muscle cars...what I mentioned is that ther's lack of personal luxury segment "pumped up "!
.
today.. I saw Monte SS '2000, ..it's not super handsome but it's quite big and o doubts american vehicle (not small dimensions joke)...

where's modern monte .. Honda and Toyota can do it , why not GM..

Excellent photo! The clouds lining up parallel to the road and the direction of travel is what makes it for me. The only thing that could make it better would be if the sun was setting in the distance.

What an awesome car and not a bad picture of it either. I remember my mom's 84 SS, I will have one like this some day. One of a few cars with automatic that I still find desireable.
