Re: Are you a Yankee or a Rebel?

"47% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category."

Some New Orleans sayings I get ribbed for...

Grip (knapsack)
Neutral ground (road median)
Mynez (you know, the white Hellman's stuff)
Cawfee, pawty, shawt, gawjus, boulevawd etc. (no wonder I like NYC!)
Ruff (the top of my house)
Banquette (sidewalk, rhymes with blanket)
Make Doe-Doe (put the kids to bed)
Make groceries (do the grocery shopping)
Pass a good time (having fun)
Peenching my kids' cheeks
Hickey (knot on the head, NOT a passion mark)
Carriage House (unattached garage)
Looking at television
Vegetable (it's four syllables, not three, in New Orleans)
Pass the mop (mop the floor)
Reading the funny men (comics) in the newspaper
Hose pipe (garden hose)
Saving the dishes (washing dishes and putting them away)
Bobos (small wounds)
Red Gravy (tomato sauce)

Re: Are you a Yankee or a Rebel?

67% Dixie. I am kind of dissapointed with that. Maybe it's because I'm Cajun and my mother has a french accent.

Cajun turned Texan....I should be purdy backwards 'wit my accent by now.

I am fixin to do this test over agin'.

50% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category. How is this, I don't even live in Southern California?

47% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category.

By the way, for those of you in Canada and Australia and other non-U.S. countries, how much do you learn about the American Civil War in history classes?

Re: Are you a Yankee or a Rebel?

The population of the South just went up by 21 million, as Australia just scored '63% (Dixie). A definitive Southern score!'
