If you watch carefully you can see at the end that he jumps out of the way of the car before it hits the concrete wall, and then gets in it and drives away.

Furthermore, I know its not JUST because he drives a Yaris. It was a joke. This is a GM site. Toyota is enemy of GM... I thought it would be funny. My mistake for not being 100% literal all the time. I mean, how dare I, its not like this message board is called the 'fun zone' or anything like that..

Did I state something that was incorrect?

I've never done anything so stupid behind the wheel. Yes, despite some GMI-er's opinions...some us Midwesterners, though we are uncouth, uneducated slob-of-a-hicks with poor grammar, we are still courteous & upstanding citizens, even when driving.

Oh, give it UP already. Character flaw....puh-lease. He got out of the Yaris while it was moving; that is definitely bathtub ring in the gene pool sort of stuff.

If the garage door won't open, go to the booth and see if someone's there. If not, call the company (via pay phone if necessary) and tell them the door won't open. If that doesn't work call the police. This guy was an idiot, you know it, I know it, You're just playing your usual "bait the GM fans by defending the idiot in the Yaris" game.

See? I'm an idiot in YOUR eyes, and even I thought of all those things. So surely you, with your accumulated worldliness, could have thought of some even better ones, and so could someone brilliant enough to buy a Toyota in the first place.

But instead, this guy got out of his car while it was moving. Think about that.

Ok, flame away, rexy. Make my case for me, please.

That was amusing. Please do the same to me if I get overly pompous.

You're right, I was overly hard on him. But there comes a time when one can no longer contain onesself; at least I can admit when I'm wrong, which is a lot of the time. I was also overreacting to a comment rex made earlier in another thread about my nationality; had the situations been reversed, he would have had every right to trash me, in my opinion.

Anybody that gets out of a moving car and leaves it in gear should not have the right to reproduce, in my opinion, though, no matter what said person drives. The fact that it was a Yaris just made for better comic relief.

No, I'm actually a Nissan owner. A '93 Pathfinder.

And I also wanted to add that this was no American driver either since Toyota doesn't sell the 5-door Yaris in the U.S. So if any study shows that drivers crash more in their Yaris, check to see if it was an American study, because it wouldn't apply to this video/thread.

Have you seen your avatar lately by any chance?

And yes, my lowly IQ allowed me to ascertain that this was no North American idiot, but instead, a very special offshore idiot. I did note the right hand drive.

And...who's talking about studies? This is about somebody who thinks leaving his car in gear while he goes around to the other side and hits a switch to open a garage door is an acceptable thing to do.

One, I never questioned your IQ, I'm not a jerk. And just because I have a Scion logo as my avatar doesn't mean I own a Scion. You don't believe that some of the users here own a 2008 Chevy Malibu, Cadillac Cien or any other concept, so how is it different here?

And it was HoeyHimself that said something about Yaris drivers being more prone to accidents and whatnot.

I never said you were a jerk. I merely made an fairly logical assumption that you either drove a Scion, or at the least preferred them over...oh I don't know..a GM product?

I still maintain that getting out of car that has been left in gear is somewhat unlikely to get one into the Mensa society. It seemed that you were protecting the little ......, and to me, that's just misplaced loyalty. If the guy had been driving a Cobalt, he'd still be a pretty bad driver.

Luckily for me and my sense of humour, it was a Yaris he was driving. Hey, take pleasure where ya can, right?

Gotta disagree on this one. You can't expect the average citizen to make complex technical decisions like this without a little help.

When you attempt to get out of a running car while it's in gear and/or the brake isn't set, the doors should automatically lock (whether you have power locks or not) and you should get a warning message that goes something like this; "Excuse me carbon based life form, not to insult your intelligence, but do you really want to relinquish control of this vehicle without first assuring that it's incapable of moving unless someone is at the controls?"
Sorry, that was for the Mensa crowd.

How about a cutoff switch like on my riding mower for us dummies?
