Pontiac Trans Sport + Concrete Saw + Time = ?

Pontiac El Sportino SS!!

So my friend and former roommate had a 1995 Trans Sport van that had a leaky roof, and some small other issues with the van. We had some tools, and some time this weekend, so we made this:

Some little nitpicky areas to clean up, and some reinforcement to take care of. But it's near completion!

Enjoy!

Ha! I love it! You make Canada proud!

Any plans to export it to Australia? They love those things down there! Perfect beach utility vehicle... with room for six!

Any chance the side door still slides?

Actually, it's room for 5 (2+1+2 seating... We did some CAD work(no not really!), and found the best locations to build in the tubing would interfere with the middle side seats). It's turned into a decent, fuel efficient parts hauler, and a ride that you can burn down a country gravel road with and feel all sorts of things in your hair! (safety goggles are recommended)

And yes, the door still slides... lets just say we did our homework on this one haha.

You have way to much time on your hands. I would have just cut the top and watched it fold in to while driving down the road.

Well done.

Haha thanks guys. It was a fun project, and the seams in the design seemed to fit the project's intentions.

You'd better put the cover back on the Dustbuster or all the dirt will spill out.

"El Sportino" kinda looks like a giant shoe. Just need a shoelace where the wipers are. Looks like a ton of fun!

Does the sliding door still slide normally, or does wobble?

And for that matter, is it/was it a power sliding door?

Does the 3rd brakelight (well, I guess technically the only light now, unless those reflectors mounted on the top of the tailgate remainder are also brakelamps?) in the tailgate still function?

The door was definitely not power. It kind of jerks out of place when trying to slide it,and doesn't always line up perfectly on the latch, but it does slide and close. When in place, zero wobble/shake/rattle.

The brake lights are currently being sorted out. The two lamps on the top of the tailgate function as the brakes and signal light (spliced in from the top two bulbs in the original harness. Wiring for the third light and reverse light was originally sent through the top of the tailgate, so now they will have to be routed another way.

No cracks for water to seep through, no bad seals, no insulation. I think we solved the leaking problem! Although now it's more like a steady pour.... hmm...
