Tahoe:

I think you might have me on this one. I've got vehicles that meet multiple "clues" but nothing that meets all of them...especially the "mid-engined" and "3-cylinder" part. Subaru never offered a mid-engined three-banger...let alone one that could carry five passengers. Fiat's rear-engined cars had two or four cylinders. Saab had its three-banger in the front.

By the way, Lake....the Montecarlo was a two-seater (and four-cylinder and two-door and had more hp), the Topolino had a two-cylinder (and was rear-engined and couldn't carry five-passengers).

The original Fiat Multipla is the closest...but it had a four-cylinder engine mounted in the rear (discounting that my source says it's 2 inches shorter and had only 22hp...and I'd never put five people in one).

Tahoe:

Maruti Omni. Although I can't find a weight rating for it, I can't imagine those FIVE passengers (optional EIGHT!) could be very heavy...or tall.

Yup Hudson got it, it's a Maruti/Suzuki Omni:

They are extremely popular here in _____ (Should I make you guess, naahh) Malta. Where I am on Vacation!

Congratulations Hudson! You get a New Omni, Just Kidding!

BTW, it weighs 1620lbs which gives it a 43lbs/HP ratio. Just for fun Let's Compare:

Maruti/Suzuki Omni:
3 Cylinders (0.8 Liters)
37 HP
1620lbs
43lbs/HP Ratio

GMC Safari:
6 Cylinders (4.3 Liters)
190HP
4321lbs
23lbs/HP Ratio
