Re: Join my group Be American Buy American on Facebook

On a somewhat related note, today I decided to stop by the local Honda dealership and see what they're up to. I cannot understand why these cars continue to sell so well. The Pilot was a JOKE, the interior was horrible, poorly designed and put together out of crappy materials, and dont get me started on the exterior. You could not pay me to drive that vehicle.

The Fit was pretty nice for a subcompact, but still a really chintzy little car. The Insight felt like a bigger version of the Fit on the inside, where it's fine for a subcompact, it was incredibly cheap for a car like the Insight. Again awful design and poor materials. The Odyssey's interior was pretty crappy too, especially the door panels and dash materials. The Civic has what I consider one of the worst interiors, build, design and materials wise, in the entire industry. The CRV was ok, decent design on the inside, average materials and build, but nothing special, and I'm sure the new Equinox is much better inside and out.

The Accord was the best of them all, but that's not saying much. The switchgear and buttons made a horrible creaking noise every time they were pressed. The design overall on the inside left a lot to be desired, though the materials were very good. I can't see why a Malibu is any less of a car.

I also stopped by the Toyota dealership.

The Venza is actually a pretty attractive car for the price, nicely designed and built interior, comfortable seats etc... The materials from the front seat back (rear door panels etc...) were incredibly plasticky however. Overall I was impressed with this one, if only it wasnt so ugly on the outside.

I have to say for the most part the other Toyotas were pretty decent as well, much better than the Hondas. The Matrix was especially nice, inside and out. Glad GM got something out of this car as well. The Rav4's hideous door panels and ungainly exterior are its main drawbacks, and though it was better than the CRV, I'm sure the Equinox is better inside and out. The Corolla was miles better than the civic inside and out, still cheap though, but I'd put it near the top of the class in interior design and build. I hope the Cruze can top it, though I cant see why not. I actually preferred the Camry to the Accord, the interior was more conventional and to my tastes, better materials and build I found. Though again the Malibu I find is a better car inside and out.

GM just needs to get people to drive some of their cars, I think they are very competitive. They just need to focus on the compact and subcompact class a little bit more, but from what I saw most new GMs easily beat their counterparts from Honda, and are very competitive with the better Toyotas.

Just my observation today

Re: Join my group Be American Buy American on Facebook

GM needs to put more stickshifts in their cars and have more options for trucks i mean there is no reason why the 6.2 liter silverado can't come in standard cab and there is no reason why the Colorado I-5 and V8 can't come in a 6 speed like nissans and toyotas it's rediculous. i'm buying a new truck this year trading in my 2wd 4banger colorado (at least it's a manual) for a 4x4 and i actually test drove nissan frontiers and toyota tacomas because they come in stick but their still lame

Re: Join my group Be American Buy American on Facebook

Wouldn't it be nice to create a group about buying American products as a whole, not just cars?

Because Joe Blow public are clueless and are buying on perception. The same perception thats currently hurting Domestics are helping Imports. However as a car enthusiast I've also checked out the imports to see how they really compare and imo they (nisstoyhon) are cheapening out alot these days. Take your example of the new Honda Pilot......i was appauled that Honda would put a cheap interior like that in there expensive SUV. The WHOLE interior is this cheap plastic that easily scratches but because its a Honda it will sell. If they are cheapening out on the interior i wonder what else i don't see, that is being skimped on....

If i was on FB i would definitely join your group.
