Talking I'm sorry I put a dent in your car....

Posted May 25th 2008 3:02PM by Jeremy Korzeniewski
Filed under: Etc., Driving, Lifestyle, Humor

Don't you just hate it when you're idling around in the parking garage and there aren't any empty spaces? How do you feel when you spot somebody with a nice car who's purposely taken two spaces so that nobody can park next to their car? Yeah, pretty infuriating. Looks like somebody decided to do something about it, if the letter above is for real. In case you can't read it, here's what it says:

Dear person,

I'm sorry I put a dent in your car. I didn't want to, but I did when I tried to park next to you. I am not leaving my information because you chose to use two spaces and I just wanted to park in one. The scratches are because I used a towel that had sand on it to try to clean the dent/paint off. Beaches are fun.

Please look your car over for the dent and scratches and each time you see them, remember not to park in two spaces.

Sorry!!!

NOTE: We at Autoblog do not condone the denting of cars on purpose. Yes, beaches are fun.

A nice acid bath will teach them. I never park my C6 anywhere i can't keep a eye on it 100%.

I hate when people do that. I would like to get a bat out and bust their windshield, or put some nails into their wheels.

Re: I'm sorry I put a dent in your car....

I don't mind them taking up 2 spaces way in the back of the parking lot. Parking garages is a no no.

I usually park in the back of the parking lot where nobody is parked. I hate it when I come back out to my car and see people parked right next to my car and there is plenty of spaces around to leave atleast 1 space buffer.

I mind it when ANYONE ANYWHERE takes up two spaces. Why is this right? It's such an arrogant thing to do. That person got what they deserved.

I think that's a prank and that the guy didn't actually scratch the car. The purpose would be to have the owner frantically search all over his car for scratches that don't exist.

Re: I'm sorry I put a dent in your car....

One of the local radio show hosts has been having some issues with fender benders as of late and I only caught part of what has been going on, but either he, or someone else got back to their car to find a note on the windshield. The not read something like this: "I'm only writing you this note becuase a bunch of people saw me hit your car and they are staring at me. Sorry about your luck."

The best part about the note in the OP of this thread is the "beaches are fun" line

Parking all the way at the end of a parking lot works just as well as double parking without pissing people off.

I park in the back with the C6, usually near a grass median if possible. That way only one side of my car is exposed.

Yeah, if you're "way in the back" you shouldn't need to take two spaces, you're parking back there to make sure you're alone!

I always park really far away from the buildings to make sure no one parks next to me, but I absolutely never take two spaces...

Unless the parking lot is completely full, no one is ever going to park in the adjacent spot if you're way in the back. People respect that. (Well, here, at least.)

Re: I'm sorry I put a dent in your car....

My Vectra has a few scrathces. I park where ever I want. I usually get a park ridiculously close to the front door of any mall/shop when Mrs. Mak is in the car, which p's her off no end. She always misses the close parks and has to herd our 2 dirt magnets (read: kids) across the car park. They are both under 4 but can go from 0-40 in about 5 seconds.

Of course, some idiot always ends up parking next to me...
I've caught them in the act once or twice. One time, a guy was considering parking next to me. I'll never understand why, there's about 50 other places to park, why would you pick the spot next to my car?!
I gave him such a bad look that he pulled through to the other row.

Re: I'm sorry I put a dent in your car....

It pisses me off when people take up two spots parking (it is almost always Corvette drivers, I've noticed)...

However, what pisses me off even more is when someone parks like an *******. Crooked, way too close to the other line, so close I can't get into my coupe, etc.
