Re: Game: Guess That Car
A friend of mine and former GMI poster had one of those....rare to see and his was in mint condition!
There is a dealer in Fort Madison, IA that sells & refurbishes old IH's like the Scout, Travelall and Terra's... Last edited by GMCSonoma : 08-05-2008 at 09:57 AM. |

![]() However Artix was not correct in claiming that number 4 was a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado. Yes that rear end in the pic would have belonged to either a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Seville (the flash version of the Coupe de Ville) or a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz (convertible), and either of those would have been a correct answer. But you may say, well if either Eldorado coupe or convertible model would have had that rear end then the generic Eldorado name IS correct. And yes that would be true if not for the fact that in 1959 Cadillac also sold another Eldorado model that did not have that rear end. It was called the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham and it had a unique hand-made Italian Pininfarina built body. So, because of the existence of the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham, which does not have that rear end in the pic, you need to specify either the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Seville or Biarritz sub models to accurately guess the picture. ![]() 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Seville or Biarritz ![]() 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham ![]() ![]() Last edited by MonaroSS : 08-05-2008 at 01:12 PM. |

Re: Game: Guess That Car
The body panels were supplied by Holden, but it's not a Holden!
Note the Chevy bowtie on the grille!Quote:

"South Africa's Own Car", the Ranger, came out in mid-68, and used the Opel Rekord body but with Vauxhallesque grille. It also used Vauxhall front suspension and steering (as did the SA-built Opel Rekord), and was offered to the Vauxhall-Pontiac dealerships to give them an equivalent model to the best-selling Opel Rekord. GMSA consolidated in 1971, the former Vauxhall-Pontiac dealers were closed, and Opels and Rangers were then sold through Chevrolet dealers. The four cylinder engines were the 153-cube derived from 60s Nova, and there was a smaller 130-cube version for the base models. Last edited by t-rex : 08-07-2008 at 12:14 PM. |
