Charger cop car chasing down MX-5 (Motor Trend)

This was fun to watch. The MX-5 makes the Charger look HUGE. Also notice how squirrelly the Mazda gets...the Charger stays fairly planted. Probably a combination of weight and ESP.

In real life the Charger probably would have eventually caught up and knocked that MX-5 off the road! lol

Wow, that Charger didn't do too bad. I'm impressed.

Yeah, there aren't nearly as many curves in real streets (sadly), so the Charger would've probably ended the chase quickly.

That looks like fun. I've always wanted to run from the cops without getting a severe beating.

I can see why LACo Sheriff loves the Charger and Magnum.

That wasn't a Hemi Charger though, was it?

What makes you think that it wasn't? I don't think there's a way to tell on the cop cars besides by looking at the exhaust outlets. I didn't notice if this vehicle had duals or a single tail pipe.

After the Miata accelerated in the second video, it kinda left the Dodge behind. But that's just me. Maybe the driver didn't want to launch the Charger into the rear bumper of the little Mazda.

In the second video they refer to the Charger as "Five Hemi Seven" over the radio. I assume that the Charger has a Hemi under the hood.

I missed that part

Maybe they were giving the Miata a chance to get ahead so they could actually do some chase driving.

Re: Charger cop car chasing down MX-5 (Motor Trend)

I'm not a huge fan of the Charger, but even I admit that would be a MEAN police car for any force to have.

Immense - I'd bloody well pull over if I saw that grille in my mirror!!

The county I live in (Barbour County, Al.) has replaced half of thie County Sherrif's Office's fleet of Crown Vics with Hemi Chargers, and they are sooo bad looking! They're painted white, which is the color all the BCSO cars are painted, but they have smoked headlamps and black grilles, with Hemi badges on the side. The huge black push bars add to thier tough looks. They don't drive them through town very often, but I live on a county road a couple miles away from town, and they patrol my road alot with thier Chargers, cause it is a known spot for ricers to street race. I envy the cops who get to drive the Chargers! Almost makes me wish I was a cop.

Re: Charger cop car chasing down MX-5 (Motor Trend)

In real life the charger would have been left far far behind, that is unless they were gunning it in a long straight highway.

The Charger looked cumbersome...................The Miata driver seemed to be more interested in some dori dori action.

Re: Charger cop car chasing down MX-5 (Motor Trend)

Read the MT story in this months issue. Basically the Hemi Charger Cop car is the fastest cop car but the MX-5, Evo, and 911 out ran it like it was a tricycle.
