Re: Big, square speed-bumps damaging cars

I'd totally pay to rent a jackhammer and pay those speed "bumps" a visit in the middle of the night if I lived there.

Middle of the night implies stealth, so a jackhammer sort of defeats that.

Nah, I know a guy that owns a concrete company, he can fix it right up, under the cover of darkness, quietly.

I'm sure he'd use a jackhammer with a silencer on it...

Re: Big, square speed-bumps damaging cars

It is some apartment complex apparently owned by idiots. However, the residents should just move. At least the residents have involved the news media, but moving is their best course of action. This is such an extreme change of conditions that they are probably justified in saying that the landloard broke the rental agreement, so they could leave without paying the last month's rent, which just leaves the security deposit (typically equal to one month's rent) for the landloard. By the way, I am a landlord, and own rental houses in other cities in Florida.

That's nuts! Isn't one regular speed bump enough?!? Who flies over even one classic rounded speed-bump? Do they really need that many square concrete slabs? I'd be upset if I lived there.

Re: Big, square speed-bumps damaging cars

I'd buy up a $50 beater and run it over the bumps at 20 mph or so. Hell, really rig up the car so the wheels will get bent and the susp will give, wiht the wheel wells resting on the tires. And abandon it with the hazard lights on

You see the 10mph sign right there?

You couldn't take anything through that at 10mph without damaging something.

I was really thinking about saw-cutting the concrete speedbumps at my old apartment complex to create a gap where my wheels could fit in....but if they put up something like this then I'd just park my truck in front of it and block traffic. It looks like a curb to me.

Isn't parking in their lease agreement? Now that the lot is closed off with a curb, they should file a lawsuit to have those things removed (and get their deposit back to fix their cars).

I'm sure the whole complex would join in. That, or take the jackhammer to the complex owner's head.

Re: Big, square speed-bumps damaging cars

Thats a little ridiculous. If i lived in the complex the owner would surely be hearing from my lawyer, and if the problems weren't resolved I would make sure the complex pays for any damage done to my vehicle.

There are speed bumps at a plaza not to far from my house and they're more like speed mountains. They are probably 3.5 feet across and about 6" off the ground. They are rounded how ever, but if i have me and a passenger in my car going at a crawl my car scrapes against them, if wanted to complain a couple of times.

I like the part of the video that shows the car actually have to take a run at it to get over.

Re: Big, square speed-bumps damaging cars

All the residents should install big tires and airbag suspensions so they can hold contests to see how high they can jump their cars over the bumps at 75 mph.
