April fool's 2007: Exclusive: BOB LUTZ RETIRES!

GMI Exclusive: Bob Lutz Retires
By Ghrankenstein

Bob Lutz can now spend more time relaxing at home

Despite prior announcements to the contrary, Bob Lutz has decided to retire. In an official press release, the reasons behind his decision were his hectic schedule and the desire to spend time with his family.

“We’re going to miss Bob, and so will the family he has built here. We could hardly keep up with Mr. Lutz, so truly replacing him will be impossible,” read a GM press release. “Our loss is his family’s gain, but we know that he’s doing the right thing. We appreciate his years of service to GM, and his pioneering contributions to the automotive industry.

In his place, GM will draft a new Chief Product and Design Committee for North American products, represented by automotive stylists, engineers, accountants, adjustors, celebrities, suppliers, dealers, burghers, and notaries. “The Product and Design Committee will leverage our greatest strength, our people, to creating our greatest products ever, our future products. We are seeing the dawn of a vibrant new and synergistic General Motors, ”

When asked how the committee would affect design and performance, GM’s spokesperson responded, “We have an authoritative system of checks, balances, procedure, policy, and referendum to assure that decisions are made in the best interest of everyone. We guarantee that we’ll continue to build on GM’s heritage of building true road cars, classic truck toughness, and world-class SUV’s.”

“People will know GM as a complete cluster of great vehicles.”

Re: Exclusive: BOB LUTZ RETIRES!

Well if you look at the photo above closely it looks like someone did a poor job of cropping Bob's head on someone else's body. That was my first indication that this had to be a joke, that and the fact he would still be reading about car news in his retirement instead of golfing.

lol that picture makes him look like the Hugh Hefner of Cars..laying on the couch, giving the panty dropper smile haha...but in all seriousness, I see Lutz living his retired life much like Jack Bauer's in 24.
