Test Drove 2008 Accord V6

I drove a brand new white diamond pearl Accord EX V6 automatic. The color was actually a nice white if that color can be "nice". It was also the only V6 dealer demo as most of the accords on the lot were 4 cylinders. The dealer is on a very busy road so pulling out and gunning it is a must. The power was more refined then even the excellent 244 hp V6 from the last gen car. lane changing was a breeze and the engine was very quiet when needed but also gave a great noise when wanted. The dash is very well done, kind of plain but thats honda for you. Overall it was well put together and the leather seats are a must, overall its a very decent car with just so-so looks-Price as tested: $27,162

Re: Test Drove 2008 Accord V6

On paper, the cabin on the new Accord is enormous compared to the previous model. Did it feel a lot bigger to you?

I'm just curious. I am a fan of large cars, and I'm hoping Chevrolet gets something that dwarfs the Accord for interior room. The current Impala isn't a bad car, but it's not fantastic either and it's only a hair bigger than the new Accord inside.

The real performer would be the new accord Coupe (V6 Manual Transmission). People are saying that it may even be over powered. I'm reading nothing but lavish praise on the new accord V6 MT coupe.

I'm not sure how anyone can praise an engine that gets 17 mpg city in a FWD car the size of an Accord Coupe.

Overpowered? Not when you consider power to weight ratio.

?? The Accord coupe isn't that much different in size from the new Malibu, and their mileage is pretty similar.

I think he meant the fact that the Accord is on a shorter platform should give it an edge in MPG but it does not. Still I will not say that the Accord is not a good product because that would be far from true.

Good review below. It's apparent that Honda has done many things right with this latest edition. ....and it's hard to beat that slick Honda MT linked to a smooth Honda 268 hp engine.

I hate myself for wanting a manual coupe.

Alot of owners are reporting over 20 in the city, and at or above 30 on the highway.

It might just need better tires. Alot of reviewers say its hard to launch because the tires can't hook up.

Isn't that the case with most cars? Is that they come with some crappy tires to begin with?

I know my first Camry LE had Bridgestone Tuzanzas. They were not 'bad' if you like summer tires that last 20K. On my Camry XLE it came with Michelins and seem to be a better tire.

When I need to replace them I will even get better All Season 'Performance' tires.

That's what the Malibu gets with it's V-6.

As is the case with the Civic, the coupe looks vastly better than the sedan.

Re: Test Drove 2008 Accord V6

The coupe is certainly a lot nicer than the sedan. The rear is nicely designed.

As for the interior, I know looks are subjective, but I can't help but wonder what journalists would say if that interior were in a GM product. I can only imagine that they would find a lot of faults.

I imagine than the 268hp engine and Honda manual would rock. I'd love to see a good manual transmission Malibu. It has a more Euro flavor to the styling, so why not go the distance and offer up a Manual.

The Malibu would make a nice looking coupe, I think. I'd rather see a new RWD Implala and RWD Monte on the same chassis. The smaller Camaro would own the Accord Coupe anyways.

I am reading more and more reviews about how fun to drive the Malibu is. It might be time to think about adding a manual transmission option on at least the 4 cylinder models.
