Re: Saturn Astra 3-Door XR
I had a chance to crawl in and around the Astra today, very comfortable for the size! The only thing that could of made it cooler would be mabey a LNF! I was really impressed with the Astra!

Re: Saturn Astra 3-Door XR
Very interesting review. With two review of the Astra out there, I don't think I'll bother with adding a third one. However, I could add some comments to this, having driven one today here in Pensacola. First I looked at and sat in a 3 door XR, with leather, the 18 inch wheels, and an automatic. This car smells more expensive than it is, in addition to any other impressions I have of it, which are generally positive. The three door comes across in person as remarkably low slung for a 3 door hatchback. It makes a Rabbit/GTI look like a phone booth.
On the other hand, I drove a XR 5 door, which was one of the few cars there with a stick shift. I generally liked the action of the manual transaxle, and agree that it takes some revs to make this car happy. This car also had the panoramic sunroof. Opening that much of the roof with glass makes for a very happy experience. I enjoyed the chassis dynamics, and felt that the car would do anything I asked of it, and then some. I do have a few caveats, however. The first has to do with a lack of a console between the front seats. I tend to keep a bunch of stuff in the console of the Prius, like an iPod, satellite radio, when I'm not using it, and four different charging devices (phone, iPod, laptop, and a battery charger cord. There's also only one outlet, which means if I owned this car, I'd have to make some choices regarding what I bring with me. I'd have to fix all sort of holders to the interior. Ironically, the Cobalt is, in this way, a better choice. But, in truth, that's my only gripe about the Astra. If I didn't buy a car six months or so ago, I'd probably buy this one.
