Quick Initial review: Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons
Yesterday I took the Aura and got the POS LS2's replaced. The only All Season tire that fit the XR's rim were the F1's.
I took it out today and it snowed so the roads were a bit hazardous. The snow was the main reason I wanted to get the LS2's replaced. They couldn't hold traction even if they were glued to the road. So I got to see how well the tires handled in the snow( though light). Upon initial takeoff on to the main road which was a slight incline, the tires were itching to jerk free to spin, but never did and T/C never activated. The steering wheel does feel different when turning. I don't know if it is a good thing or not yet. The tires gripped the wet slushy roads pretty well and only gave a slight hint of going out on the curves, but held their ground without activating the ESC. Dare I might say the ride is much better then with the LS2's. They absorb the bumps better. I was expecting a harsher ride. Overall I like the F1's. I will update this thread as I keep on driving them in dry and wet conditions to see how they stack up against the LS2's. ![]() |

yeah be careful and don't jump to conclusions until you do a complete comparison between the two. I can't wait to read your future posts about this topic and it would be nice to see how each tire did

Re: Quick Initial review: Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons
The roads were plowed and treated and dry. So I pushed it a little. Going into the same curves at the same speed I went on the LS2's, the F1's gripped the road much better then the LS2's. I also did a stand still launch. Where the LS2's would of lost it and spun and engage T/C, the F1s held their ground and didn't break a sweat. Now due to the harder rubber, going over a unusual bump in the road and not ready for it did cause the wheels to take control of the steering wheel for a second and the car swerved back and forth a bit, but I tightened my grip on the wheel and got the car back into control. The LS2's handled it much better then the F1's. So I will avoid that bump with the F1's as the best I can. Now only for rain to test wet traction and this comparison between the LS2's and the F1's will be pretty much complete. So far F1's: 2 LS2's: 0.
PS: GMFan, F14 was talking about the LS2 V8. ![]() Last edited by ChevyRules : 12-06-2007 at 10:13 PM. |

I've got F1's and I love them.
They grip the road like glue. Dry, Wet, or in Snow. I'd have to say that Snow traction is the worst of the three, but still better than my OEM tires. |

Re: Quick Initial review: Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons
I have F1s on my Aurora, they do have great grip when dry, and even in rain, but in snow mine are pretty terrible. I am going to have to replace them soon anyway.

Re: Quick Initial review: Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons
What a week. Wednesday I took them on the snow. They performed decently. Yesterday the roads were fine so I pushed them. Gripped the road REALLY well. Today it rained so the roads were wet. The tires didn't even slipped once. Almost like the roads were dry. So it is a sweep( no surprise here). F1's:3 LS2's:0

Re: Quick Initial review: Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons
Goodyear really seems to have got their act together with their newer tire designs.
I've owned a few sets of Eagle-series tires; they were all pretty much the same: Not bad in dry weather, but freaking dangerous the instant a drop of water (let alone snow or ice!) hit the pavement. My current car came with a brand new set of Viva 2's. Those were just as bad in the wet, plus they handled like utter crap in dry weather too. I had almost sworn off Goodyear, but I took a chance on the TripleTreds after seeing all the very positive reviews. I'm glad I did. They handle great- I can take 25 mph offramps at 40+ without any squirming or squealing. In the wet, I can safely corner at speeds that would make the Vivas squeal on dry roads. And my Mark VIII (RWD, 280hp, light rear end, no limited slip) is actually drivable on snow and ice now. Yesterday I was driving up an icy slush-covered hill, and I came up to a Mustang sitting diagonally in my lane with its hazard lights on. I had to stop for oncoming traffic, then I was able to get going again, swing around the stranded Mustang, and climb the hill with nothing more than slight fishtailing. Needless to say, I was very impressed. I think they'd be very hard to beat without using dedicated summer/winter tires. |
