I had a guy in a C5 tell me that my GP was awesome, I suggested that we should trade then, and there was an awkward silence afterwards, go figure.

I agree, when I attempted to test-drive one, it was very quite, although I was revving it with the door open and it sounded nice, just too quite for a rebellious Pontiac. Other than that, I'll take mine in Magnetic Grey Metallic. GT please.

Just wait a few years for the muffler to rust holes in it, then it will sound throaty

I'd say it is one of the best. It is really good

But for the US market it is not really so well adapted, the car has a serious identity crisis half of it due to being named "G8" I mean come on. I'd have just left the Commodore badge even.

I wouldn't say that... there is a much deeper vein. The Grand AM was always a hit seller specifically with women... also Sunfire

Nah. I still own a 2006 G6 GTP.

I'd like to have a 2009 G8 GT, but I'm holding out to see what GM decides to do with some things before I buy a Pontiac.

1. Pontiac badge
2. Recession
3. Lack of good marketing.

Imagine how good Pontiac's image would eventually be if it only sold the G8, the Solstice, and an Alpha-based RWD compact car.

Re: Nsap [FINALLY] Drives: 2009 G8 GT

I skipped on the G8 for one reason alone:

2009 Pontiac G8 V6/3.6L: $33,800
2009 Dodge Charger SE 3.5L: $24,345

Is the G8 V6 really $9000 better?

2009 Dodge Charger R/T 5.7L: $33,995

How about now? Is the G8 V6 as good as the Charger R/T?

Hell no.

Ergo, sales stink while LX is doing good for Dodge.

Canada!

LX cars are the best deal in town by far.

Dodge is offering rebates to match US pricing. They've been doing it continuously for the last 6 months.

GM canada is offering jack diddly squat.

wooooooooooo!

Ah I get you, Canada would be quite a difference. But I am failing to see why you are going to the websites for that. Why don't you go down to the dealerships of both and see what they are willing to wheel and deal?

thats funny

yet sucks tremendously for you

i cross shopped the R/T and GT and well....

i can't believe they are charging more than a G8 GT for the V6

you should have driven down to the boarder and tried to see what you could have gotten a G8 GT for

P.S. the G8 V6 handles better than the R/T....it has the same suspension as the GT

NAFTA permits this - the G8 being an import it would be heavily taxed.

It's a shame how absolutely boring it looks, though. That story didn't end well the last time when they called it a GTO. And aren't we over clear-lense tail lamps by now? It's very 2003.
Have you seen one in person? I have had countless compliments on mine. People have come up to me in the parking lot to ask about it. I get thumbs-up on the highway, nods of approval, etc. It's a very classy looking car.
