Re: Nsap [FINALLY] Drives: 2009 G8 GT

In less than 2 years I'll be buying either the Camaro SS2 with the RS option package or the G8 GT. I like the Camaro all around better, but the the G8 has more room on the inside. If only I had enough money to buy one of them now.

Its the only Pontiac since 2002 that I would have in my driveway. The black ones just look evil!

Re: Nsap [FINALLY] Drives: 2009 G8 GT

I went to a local dealership to check one out, and I don't think it looks bland at all. Its handsomely styled, with good proportions and a muscular stance. A salesman came up to me and was asking how I liked it (it was a V6) and he then decided to bring me over to the real fun stuff-the GT. It was Magnetic Grey Metallic and that is probably my favorite color for the car, with the black and orange following. The leather seats were excellent, I really liked the LCD display, the key and the way it starts. Had I been 18 at the time, I would have taken it for a spin, and I told the salesman that several time, but he insisted on a test-drive. To be honest though, I'd have to drive both the V6 and V8 and I wouldn't settle for anything less than the 11 speaker Blaupunkt system, a sunroof, leather steering wheel/shifter, and hopefully leather seats. It was funny, I got in my 02 Grand Prix afterwards and was like, this thing looks like $hit on the inside, lol.

Re: Nsap [FINALLY] Drives: 2009 G8 GT

The styling of the G8 is not boring. I don't know how any of you others can say that. Go look at an ES, LS, any BMW with four doors, Genesis, Camry, Corolla... there are many more that are more boring to look at. The G8 is unique enough that it's polarazing the C&D staff with the men thinking it looks cool, and the women hating it. Definately not "boring."

Nice review NSAP. How long till you trade?

I've only driven a manual but totally agree about its impeccable manners. It's very easy to go fast, but just as easy to go slow

I like the G8. If I hadn't bought a CTS last year I would definitely consider a V8. But like someone posted my wife hates it. They had one parked outside the dealership and I pointed it out to her. I think it looks to much like a mucle car and the Pontiac name just doesn't appeal to women.

Of course right now it's the totally wrong car for the current market.

Women are a HUGE part of Pontiac's sales. Its one of the reasons its so hard for Pontiac to go performance and abandon its core customers.
Like Buick, Caddy, and to an extent Chevy.
Saturn is the only brand to break away from its history to forge out and do something else.

The G6 appeals to women quite well...because, as someone stated, Oprah gave a ton of them away on her show when they first arrived on dealer lots.

Anyways, I stopped by my Pontiac-Buick-Chevrolet dealer today and drooled over a few '09 G8 GTs myself...

I haven't driven the GT. Yet. I have had a little bit of flight time in the V6. It is a great car and a fantastic addition to the Pontiac lineup. Now, if they would only give me a coupe version with a DI V6....

It is a "guy" car. The V6 version is reasonable as far as fuel economy goes. If you need a bigger car with some guts, this is the way to go. A coupe version would be sweet. Can't wait to see this car with the DI V6.

Fixed that for you, Fenwick. Oprah didn't pay for those G6's.

Re: Nsap [FINALLY] Drives: 2009 G8 GT

i agree with the OP....thats why i bought one

bland?.....seriously?

some of us do not want to look like a kid on the streets with all the wings and body kits

it is a mature looking car and does not do stuff just for the sake of it like the styling of some car companies are doing(nissan and their headlights)

the hood scoops and the quad exhaust are the only thing that give this thing away

if it is so freakin bland then explain to me why im at a light and next to me is a F-body Camaro and next to him there is a C6 corvette.....who does he say "nice car" to? me.

the car you drove was not broken in yet....im at 1k and it is starting to wake up nicely

plus there is a transmission update that dramatically changes the transmission in a good way

this car never feels heavy when in turns or accelerating

my biggest complaint would be the fact that it is quiet

I hope you spend a lot of time here. A very great deal of time, in fact.

An honest opinion of the "waking up" of your G8 would be great from time to time.
