Just like there are presumably people who wished they could afford an already pricey Prius and ended up in a much better-selling Corolla, there will no doubt be many people who would buy a Volt if they could, but can't, and end up in a Prius.
There's always room for something inexpensive.

Like I said, not a perfect analogy. The point is when Apple started dropping the price they decimated the market because they built true desire when it was expensive. This will do the same. Remember, the individual components of VOLTEC are projected to cost less than the powertrain of a Prius (excluding battery of course to be fair). So, GM will match pricing to what the market will bear for the penetration they want.
What's going to shock many of you is how much coverage the VOLT gets. It's the automotive equivalent of Obama. It's no secret the greenies want to use as little gas as possible, and even when the plug in Prius comes out, its still completely outclassed.
